If you want a module it should go out Monday. But we strongly suggest you wait to schedule your install until you have the implant in hand.

On one hand I want to support this amazing team but on the other, it’s quite a lot of munies. 
I guess before committing, how does this device fare in the long run? I was looking at the original Apex conversion and then this guy shows up and I don’t want to feel like making a mistake with such a hefty purchase.
The second would be support and availability, are we looking at the Apex 2 running just as long as the original Apex? I’ve never used an Apex so my experience is that of never owning a device and then a better one shows up so I’m not fully aware of what I’m getting into. (Would this be an AMAZING every for Apex?)
With the storage volume of this device being rather large, is there any support for encrypted storage? I want to avoid using NDEF for storage. (Idk what I’m doing)
Last question with the Curve25519, what capabilities could this have using the Apex system? It sounds fancy and nice but again, with little to no experience on how this can be utilized, I’d like to know if it’s worth getting into. I envision using it for SSH connections and possible 2FA, but I’m nowhere near that capable yet.
Looking forward to hearing back because I’m THIS 
close to deciding if it’s worth putting all the eggs in the basket. I want to force myself to learn more about cryptography with having learned a lot with what I currently have and feel like it’s time for upgrades.

Yes 
It is the same package type on the same antennas as the Apex–just a different arrangement of silicon.
There’s the seekeeper app for storing secrets and the like.
PGP comes to mind. But @amal and @StarGate01 could answer better than I.
The original Apex has room for one major applet. If you want passkeys, you can’t have PGP, for example. So as an OG Apex Mega owner, I think it’s huge. Also, payment capable

This is the key selling point, because if this.
The alternative to the Champion Edition, is getting a second Apex or FlexSecure.
Thats why I have an ApexFlex AND a FlexSecure
Each is the backup to the other.
HOWEVER
The champion edition was not available when I chose my setup, had the Champion Edition been avaliable at the time, That would have been a serious consideration, plus a dngr.us/J3R180 as a backup

This is a great option but also the new J3R452 cards at $5 more is, i think, worth the extra expense as it is more closely related with the Apex 2.

It seems like NXP has something like a four year development cycle. But also, I still use my OG Apex every day. It’s not like it’s useless because something newer came along

Wait, can this chip emulate DESFire EV3?
Did a quick Google search and AI was like yeah, but I’m taking that with a grain of salt. Is this part of the MIFARE Plus part?

Some 452 varieties can. I have not investigated me Apex 2 ring conversion in that manner yet. But I suppose I can tomorrow.
MIFARE Plus is separate. We will be offering a DESFire EV3C variant of the J3R452 card soon.

Very good point, I dont have one and my J3R180 is literally <30cm away from me.
So what you are saying is…I should get a new J3R452 and back up ALL my things, not just MOST of my things 
Whether it is worth it to me should not be the deciding factor for you.
Let me put it this way.
I very recenly relieved a Ring Conversion, and I have not installed it yet, because I need to organize the install, but also, I haven’t fully decided if I ask about returning it and paying the difference for the upgrade…
If you are talking worth with regard to cost, then let’s do the Math.
Narrow version costs
~$350 for Apex Flex
~$350 for Flex Secure
=~$700
or
Closer to what you are getting with the Champion Edition
~$550 for Apex Ring Conversion
~$350 for Flex Secure
= ~$900
So only $200 more for the Champion Edition
For that, you support the product development.
You get on the Champion supporter board

I love this perspective. It makes it more “worth” it to me because again, I haven’t messed much with the Apex lineup nor the Javacards at all. I want to make sure I’m getting as much bang for my buck about something I have no experience in but willing to learn and adapt and experiment with. It will become a part of me and I must learn more about myself.

As a side question for the Apex 2, how much space was a available from the original Apex compared to the Apex 2? I saw it said double, but unsure what the original was. Sorry if it says somewhere and I haven’t quite looked.
