This was the seventh flight test of starship, the biggest rocket ever to fly in history. For this flight a new version of the second stage, called ship block 2, was supposed to deliver dummy satellites to orbit to test a satellite delivery system for the new generation of starlink satellites, unfortunately something went wrong with the new prototype moments after the booster got caught by the mechazilla tower (yes that’s how they call the tower that catches the booster). This footage shows the remains of the second stage burning through the atmosphere
Catching that booster is pretty impressive. As for the second stage, I suppose this is a good reminder of the reason for testing!

So I’ve been following Fraiser Cain and his work for a while and after seeing this video I felt like I would support the effort by sharing here:
If you don’t know about him and the Universe today check it out.
I need to buy more telescopes. Having zero is kinda lame…
Whoa
just an fyi update.
It’s predicted for 2:37 +/- a coupla hors for tomorrow (May 10). So basically anyplace between 52 degrees north/south.
If you get freakishly lucky to see it, TAKE PICTURES.
What timezone? Zulu/UTC?
So pretty much anywhere where the weather isn’t freezing all year round. Right?
D’oh… Timezones!
As an aerospace nerd, it’s always fun(ny) to me when this stuff enters public consciousness (and often really frustrating, especially lately with the politics around expanding our presence in space)
But anyways… Revised window. Opens in one hour.
New estimate from Space-Track for K482 reentry window: 0430 to 0630 UTC.
This is how (currently) various organisations have their nominal #reentry points for the #Kosmos Descent Craft located, each based on their own models.
