Oh and in other news, i decided to re doo the pcb/project logo. I thort the penis was a bit immature… so ive decided to go with this…

Pwooar. You flatter me. But lets not take any attention away from the so many great projects here. This is just to make my home go beep boop buuuurrrrrr! When i smush my hand to the door.

You all have your bases covered, from what I see regarding the usual problems. The boards we tend to find aren’t made with as much processing power in mind as your project uses. Storing everything as JSON is not gonna fly on an 8-bit board. But it conveniently avoids silly things such as, “is this UID of all zeroes in the authorized array,” which is exactly what C initializes an array to: all zeroes. Also, doing string comparisons avoids coercion into booleans.

Disclaimer: I am not an expert.

Thanks for the epic feedback .the talking motorcycle acsess controller i made originally is 8bit suitable. User can type in the uids in the ino. Or can use the master slave card method of uid adding . I think the latter saves uids to eeprom. That also may need checking.

I didnt like the shape of the last case so ive shuftied everything about so i can go for a more min-amal-istic shape. So heres the preliminary design. I think I can shed another 5mm. I do prefer this minimalistic design. Bit it does mean I’ll have to redo the PCbs yet again. As I need to loose 3mm on the pcb.

further updates, i demand it be smaller! so in an attempt to smush things even closer togeather i have done the following. i have placed the buck converter, under the Microcontroller. (shhh theres plenty of room, yes i know the antenna is in the middle of the pcb…shup!, it will work.)

i plan to make the toggle mechanism thinner (-z) by using a single 1.6mm leaver propped up to meet the pogos using a washer.(previously 2 soldered together)
idealy making the pogos the highest point. which should alow me to shave off about 2mm the top of lid.

I demand it even smaller!!

Chopping off bits that arnt needed. I will round these square edges later on.

As you can see the toggle mechanism will need redesigning… to fit the new space.

testing of the current mech works well theres enuff tollerance so there no continuity between the left and right pins in the full range of motion (16*)

The axel needs trimming and the handle needs spraying. Case corners rounded. But over all im pleased.

I am considering moving the buck up on top next to the toggle mech. And use 90* header pins to attach one pcb to the other pcb. Making a right angled pcb. This ill alow me to.make it even smaller… lol

amended the pcb. so the togglemech fits in the case, i cba to reposition / redesign the mechanism. ill amend the case instead,

Heres a comparison. Of the 1st lock against the newest one.

Thinking out loud. Currently if softap gpio is held low on start up. The device enters soft ap mode for uid managment. After start up this gpio isnt used. So im considering adding back the" bipass" feature (a button . When pressed changes the locks state from locked to unlocked. Bipassing the reader. For when your too lazy to turn the knob).

The gpio can be set as an interupt.

Edit : donfire said yes, but im unsure if i can fit a button int the case yet…

Is there an LED indicator for locked vs unlocked?

There Was…but we pulled it off to save space
and power. plus it would be hidden by the case. " my logic was …if im close enuff to see the led. Im close enuf to try the handle. We even crunched the power led on the micro controler. And the led in the reader.

yeah power would be my primary concern. there might be a clever way to use a mechanical indicator like port-a-potty’s do - make a little lever inside with painted end and add a window… but then again it seems like overkill to me.

That could be more achievable. I could put 2 holes in the case. A blob or red a green ink on the leaver. So when in each state the corect blob of ink is inline with the hole. But then the thumb turn would cover it.

Red locked .green unlocked. White. Window in case.

In other news i am going arrange to have some vinyl stickers made. To use as electronic etching templates. Gona put the project name on the face of the lock. Just because i can. And i have a spair 12v battery.

Stickybrand has some pretty great deals. i think they do 200 stickers 2" for 30$

All sorted found a guy local to me. Will do the stickers for peanuts. Now its time to get your crayons and design a name and font for this project. I cant put sexylock or penis’s on the bits you see. So i was just thinking smartlock or ‘nfc- lock’ bit im totally open to any ideas.
