I Got a FlexM1V2 installed!
Hey all, its me, the forum’s resident irresponsible loon, I got Early access to the FlexM1v2 so I could write up some documentation, do some testing and get it installed to have a play around with it.
I’m going to preface this early. what I am about to describe is not at all even close to proper procedure, Amal and Tac0s advised me multiple times against using the flex needle & doing it in a non professionally equipped studio (a hotel room), if you replicate my actions and they go wrong, that is entirely on you. i am a professional idiot and my stunts should not be taken as advice
So! defcon this year was awesome! i did a handful of series installs on some incredible folks including tehrabbit who got an xmagic in his finger!
i enlisted the help of TheChamp to put in my flexM1v2 with the assistance of some lidocaine, When talking with DT Staff I asked for a flex needle and was told they will include one but logic, maths, science and common sense tells them it is not recommended to use the flex needle as the implant is wider than the diameter of the needle, even when compressed. but we did it anyway
we both heavily santised our hands and did multiple rounds of alcohol surface wipes on the area which was going to be implanted, injected 15u of lidocaine and gave it 3 minutes to set in. TheChamp Inserted the flex needle, withdrew and confirmed the implant would not fit in the hole, so he put the needle in again this time right next to the original hole making a 2x wide hole. The implant went in a treat and we used butterfly sutures(?) to stretch the skin closed.
3-4 days on and the implant is healing perfectly, pic attached is not the best as there’s no prior context but when it was fresh you could see the fat(?) in my hand, shit was gross dude. but yeah, the wound as it currently stands is near superficial there is no depth to the injury, no infection and no pain!
i used collagen tablets & some full spectrum antibiotics as a prophylactic measure & they seem to have worked nicely.
this was my experience as someone with very little regard for my personal safety, the proper procedure for this implant would have been to use a scalpel and a trained professional in a sterile field with the proper equipment, not in a hotel room with improper equipment. Again, dangerous things warned me and gave me all the proper information regarding getting this installed and i chose to go the rogue route.
Performance
The ZUID in the FlexM1v2 has some awesome range, i was able to gain about an inch of distance from a saflok hotel door reader. The coupling is incredibly easy both with the proxmark and readers. now I’m back home I’ve done some light testing with my demo units and have had 0 issues trying to get a read, no need to twist and turn my hand, i just present and it scans.
Incredible implant! i am so thankful to @amal and @tac0s for letting me in on the early access of this awesome product and for putting up with my shenanigans!
if you are wanting a flex Mifare Classic 1k 4b the Flexm1v2 is seriously powerful and super versatile, please do follow all official advice and prioritise your safety over wanting to get the implant in as soon as you can.
if you do choose to do what i did RE using the flex needle please make sure you are with a trained and comfortable professional.
