I got a flexUG4 implanted a bit over 4 weeks ago now, and while I was hoping that initial problems were because of swelling and would resolve themselves, I can still barely get a read on a pm3rdv4.01, let alone any “real life” target reader. The chip itself seems to work (I CAN read it after all), but is super finicky and I have to find the exact sweet spot, which is my hand directly touching the antenna PCB in a particular location. That’s why I wanted to ask: What kind of range are other people getting? And is there anything I can do to improve it, or is it just how it is?
flexUG4 seems to require higher power to active. AFIK the only way how to boost the reading is Repeater Disc , But I’m also looking for ways how to be able to use the flexUG4 with generic readers
For the proxmark you should look at the PM3 Booster Board here. Also using the PM3 without shoudl be pretty easy but it isnt intuitive. For one, when reading dont use the front of the PM3, use the back of the PM3, perpendicular to the barcode. That should get you consistent results without a booster.
For other real life readers RSP’s have great success in getting the lower power readers to work better with implants.
and then the news you probably dont want to hear. The fact that you have been getting successful reads is great now that you hit the 4wk mark. It is only going to improve going forward. There probably was and is still mild swelling but as your body adjusts and you become more aware on how to present your implant you will find you get better success in presenting it.
Thanks for pointing out the possibility of repeaters, does anyone happen to know of someone selling them in EU? Other than that, thank you both for the feedback, and I guess I’ll see if it improves over more time
