I got my flexUG4 about 3 months ago on May 1st and I’ve noticed over time the read range has been slowly dropping. When I first got it implanted it was measuring somewhere around 4k mV with the proxmark3 but now it can hardly reach 3k with perfect positioning. I have a payment implant which reads at about 7k mV and a xSIID that reads at about 3k mV consistently. It’s slowly been getting worse and is become very difficult to scan my UG4 with my phone and other scanners. Could the antenna be dying or could there be some other issue that might be causing this?
Sounds like encapsulation if it’s occurred over 3 months, what happens is the internal skin has healed and thickened, this can increase the distance by fractions of a millimeter (enough for signal drop).
This is actually somewhat confusing. Are you talking about proxmark hf tune command results? That’s the only thing I can think of that would provide mV readings.
Why it’s confusing is that lower voltage drops means better coupling as the transponder is drawing down the voltage from the reader more intensely. A poor coupling results in less voltage drop. Also the important information to convey about voltage measurements is not the final result but the difference between no transponder on the antenna and a transponder coupling with the antenna (the amount of drop not the final voltage).
Finally, do you happen to have a booster board installed in your proxmark? What version of hardware do you have and please share a screenshot of the start screen which shows the firmware version etc.
In reality this is the only diagnostically relevant information thus far. That would seem to indicate a potential issue with infiltration (encapsulation issue). Reply to your order confirmation email to create a ticket and we can take it from there.
