Probably suggesting that for more of a future-proofing and general versatility since the NExT also has a 13.56MHz chip. You could get more “use per poke” so to speak

Yes that AND because NExT also has the High Frequency chip, if it’s placed next to another HF chip, you could experience some reading issues.
It is negligible, but through some testing we have seen that the xEM has slightly better range

That’s what we call Position 5 or a knife edge installation and it’s generally considered suitable for X-series bioglass implants (outside of any particular occupational hazards).

Update: I’ve got the NeXT chip between my ring finger and pinky finger, I have the Proxmark3 easy. But next is the difficult part, I’ve tried to format the NeXT chip to read as an IoProx. I ran through the instructions in some of the tagged posts but with no luck. I also don’t want to screw up the chip. Any advice? Also if possible I would love to do a call with someone who has successfully cloned and made the NeXT chip function as an IoProx or at least someone who has a decent idea of how to get it to work. LF reads with proxmark on these can be particularly tricky sometimes as they rely on very precise positioning.
Keep at it and try find a spot you can reliably read many times before attempting a write.
lf search I was able to get it to read a few times so that isn’t the problem. When I try to run the command to reformat the chip to read as an ioprox using
lf t55xx write b 0 d 00147040 it says something along the lines of invalid value “b” “0” “d”
Can you do a PM3 scan of the Prox card? and share it here?

When I set mine up, this is exactly what I ran (changed facility code and card number for security)

Did your Proxmark come with any test cards? I originally tested against the T5577 card that was included with my Proxmark before I actually cloned to my implant

The problem now I suppose Is the

lf search Hardly any information appears, where would I find the values for vn,fc, and cn?
And yes it did but all of the cards are reading as hf
you need to place your old fob on the Proxmark and run lf io read, it will give you the version, facility code and card number

According to the examples on this page you may be able to use the raw number with
lf io clone <raw number>
Although if I had to guess Version is 01, Facility Code is 58 and the card number is 54378. You could try writing that and then reading the card and seeing how it responds.
