This is my assessment of your post as well. They just bridge it from your Coinbase purchase. My work moved into crypto so I was rather interested when I was told about this.
For those unaware, USDC is actually backed 1:1 with USD, sitting in accounts or US Government bonds, all issued by Circle. They’re properly regulated and there’s accounting that proves they have the USD, unlike USDT (Tether is suspected of bailing out one of their other companies with a loan, Circle don’t do that). In one of my projects, I’ve actually been using them as it’s very helpful, they allow you to move between different crypto chains easily.
But, for those who don’t wanna touch crypto, the bank transfer is easiest - you just have to pay the fees to process it. You’re not storing it in a volatile asset no matter which way you do it; USDC is as solid as it gets.
Looks like I’ll have to visit them in person and setup the ACH or figure out the crypto bridging. I have an account with Gemini that pulls from the very same credit union I’m trying to setup with etherfi, and there’s a “bridge” wallet thing, but I don’t have any etherium or USDC in there at the moment. I’ll need to get smarter on all the kinds of wallets and exchanges, custodial and self-custody stuff.
This is quite intriguing, I have been considering the apex for some time, and this seems about as good an opportunity as any. Considering that the chip is extracted from the discontinued apex ring, is this essentially a limited run until stocks run out?
Also: Whose terms of service are actually violated by this? I am aware that it all goes back to Mastercard and Visa. However, the actual contract violated should be with Fidesmo or the bank issuer, if I am not mistaken. Has anyone ever run into actual legal trouble based on Walletmoor or some similar implant? I don’t want to be paranoid, but I work in the legal field and need to be a bit careful around stuff like this. Although, I assume that legal consequences would require the list of buyers of the conversion service.
Really?? I must have done something wrong then because it took up a TON of space on mine. I have very little space for passkeys. Luckily I also have a FlexSecure (though it is not in a great location to tap with my phone)
Ordering the apex ring conversion within this week! Has anyone in Australia worked out an easy way to put money into the accounts? Or able to dm a simple way, I have 0 knowledge on cryptos haha, also watching closely for the kiarna payment one as that seems much simpler if Amal can work his magic with them I’ll likely use that! So excited and stalking these forums hourly
Klarna won’t work for us in Aus yet as they are don’t yet have what they need to offer debit cards and bank accounts, it’s just pay as you go for now. But we can use kaast. It will give you a USD bank account that you can top up from your revolut account or you can just top it up with usdc (crypto) if you want me to run you through it let me know and we can sort out a time to hop inro discord. Also have you found someone to install it yet if your going with the module/mega?
Sweet, yeah finding an artist here in Aus is definitely the hardest part, especially for anything that needs a scalpel. I’m free most of next week and the week after so just hit me up whenever
Sweet, in terms of the 3 types on conversions, anyone able to give me a dummy version of just how different/practical the difference is? I’d assume it’s mostly read range but if anyone’s willing to give their recommended would be great! (Also sorry for the slight high jacking of the thread)
if you don’t mind looking like a dummy while standing at a new payment terminal trying to find the sweet spot at just the right angle (only to find out some terminals just can’t read the narrow), then go for the narrow The module is the only way to go if you don’t want any futzing around.
I received the ring conversion yesterday and installed fidesmo pay with curve. I am gonna try a payment tomorrow, and it is gonna be installed the 17th
