Unfortunately my comment will come off as hindsight and maybe a bit wanky, but just to let you know what I do ( I’ve never bricked an implant )
I have a bunch of test cards, and at least one of each type of implant I have, before i try something new on any implant, i will practice a test write to it on the card first.
Its a great way to learn and if you fuck it up, you have only lost a fuck-all card
With your ring you only need a T5577 ( although if you are super comfortable with it you won’t need one ) and a Magic Mifare 1k gen2 card and you are sorted.
Without knowing all the commands you sent, I wonder if you were using / directed to send gen1 commands 
If you are thinking of delving into the RFID world, I would personally recommend grabbing yourself a test card bundle and a magic card pack, and this will cover you for the majority of cards you will likely come across
