Newbie - Needs help with setup from scratch

Background - I needed to clone a apartment keyfob so I just did a google search. What I noticed was more than a few posts stating that a Proxmark3 could do this or that, so I ordered one from AliExpress… Being it was their 11/11 sale, I couldn’t pass up the pricing. Problem is, after I ordered it, when I started youtubing how to use one, almost every video referenced this site and or to use the ICEMAN firmware.

Today, my Proxmark3 - 512 came in. I haven’t even hooked it up to see if it lights up yet, figuring I’d like to follow a guide to get started and to flash the latest ICEMAN firmware first. My issue is, I can’t seem to find any current guide.

I did manage to fine a guide here from 2020, but it looks to be the guide to setup based on if it already had the ICEMAN firmware. Also found a post from someone else from 2023, but the replies in that guide pointed to an abridged guide that either no longer exists or there was a bad link.

Can anyone help me get started? I’ve got a Windows 11 laptop. My Proxmark3 is supposed to be the 512 version, but who knows, since it was purchased from AliEx.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!

Hi. Amal’s guide is accurate despite being made in 2020.

Edited to add: @Aoxhwjfoavdlhsvfpzha has some great tools for getting started as well.

I used your simplified guide and followed your video. It made the initial setup super easy! Thank you very much! Now I just need to figure out how to clone a couple of cards and fobs I have.
