Read Issues on new flexUG4

Ah that’s the rub, even in the early days, I could not get a read on this implant at all with even my phone. That’s why I’m a little spooked it might be DOA. I can get a read on all my other implants, even the recent dUG4T while it was still slightly swelled up.

@tac0s and @amal I gave some more healing time and it still seems like I can’t get a read with either my phone or my Proxmark, we may sadly need to assume the coil has gone to the great scrapyard in the sky. Do I have any options re:warranty for getting it replaced? I recognize the positioning may have voided the warranty and if so, I understand.

Just providing the image to refresh their collective memories (Yes, They are Borg)

I totally understand you asking; I would ask too.
But also awesome that you would understand why if they say no.

FYI
Next time, feel free to reach out before your next install for opinions / advice.

I’m pretty sure, most, if not all here would have advised against that laterall instal position

@tac0s and @amal apologies for the second ping, let me know if email would be a better place to discuss this, just wanted to check in case the last message slipped through the cracks!

Can you reply to your order confirmation? We’ll see what we can work out. Sorry for the delay.

Perfect, thank you and no worries!

Just out of curiosity, is putting the implant in p1/p2/p3 a decent spot (as is indicated on the suggested placements page) or is it better to just have it live in the arm/wrist? Given the issue I just had with the flexion, I would want to make sure since it seems that the flexUG4 would need to sit pretty snugly between the flexor digitorum tendons of the fingers to avoid being flexed too much. Of course, in that case the implant and the tendons would be parallel so less chance of a breaking flex but interested to hear what people think?

I’ve had a flexUG4 in p3 since January, no problems. It is as you mentioned parallel to the tendons, IE in-line with my bones and not likely to bend/flex.

I used to have the old version of the flexUG4 installed from April 2025 to September 2026 in my R2 location. It never flexed or bent or anything. It was decent. I had it removed since it was the older version and could barely read, it was awful. The chip itself is in very good condition, minus the extraction markings.

I got the new flexUG4 installed in my L3 since last week (Septemb,er 27) and it is reading so nicely even through the swelling of my hand. It’s a huge improvement from the last one, so I’m looking forward to it once it’s fully healed.

I have the dUG4T installed on my right wrist, as that seems like the best place for much larger chips. I feel like the narrow is good for the hands since the areas you can put them in don’t cause flexing as long as they’re installed vertically, the module / larger chips are good for the wrist, with the exception of the Apex 2 in my R2 location.
