Always easier with somebody else doing it. This would be my reccomendation in order of preference:-
Professional Piercer (experienced)
Medical professional
Friend etc. Installing
Friend etc. Assisting
Self install.

With regards to your son, Just ask him to read and watch the following, and that should be a good grounding for a successful install.

Pain is just a state of mind, so I guess it really depends on your pain threshold.
But if I had to describe it I would say, bee- sting :honeybee: / blood donation/ blood sample :syringe: But that is what it FEELS like, Is it painful, again that is for you to “decide”
But when it is in, correct you just feel pressure at the needle entry site.
