tried but resin does not do anything to stop the harmful radiation coming from the tritium, unlike our glass which does.

I am torn on the xGLO as a concept.
Part of me thinks it’s really cool and I want one.
Another part of me thinks that it’s a terrible idea, and that’s as someone who has had a glass implant break inside me.
How much tritium is actually in the vials, and how long does it stay in the body? As the worst case scenario might not be that bad on paper.
If I was an installer, or amal, I wouldn’t want to go near it from a legal perspective.
In terms of legality, I would also be really interested as to how it works in countries like the UK, where body modding is restricted. Especially implications for the installer.
Here in the UK it’s very much split into 2 categories, tattoos and piercings are known as permitted practices, everything else is considered “extreme”.
From a legal perspective, everything in the “extreme” category is a form of “unlawful wounding” or “GBH” (Grievous Bodily Harm) and has no legal grounds.
Tattoos have the age restriction of “Over 18” only, piercings are “Over 16” but can be given earlier with parental consent.
Tattooists and body piercers MUST be registered with their local authority (council) and premises are inspected by local councils to ensure things like hygiene, infection control and sterilization standards are met and maintained.
There is no legal protection for people who give things like tongue splitting, eyeball tattoos, scarification or implantation. It’s also illegal to give anaesthetics without a medical license here.
From a morality perspective, I think there’s nothing wrong to allow people to take this risk with their lives. In fact, I think it’s the correct thing to enable this kind of self-actualisation. It’s a personal decision and it shouldn’t be gatekept.
I personally want to live a short but interesting life, and so an xGLO makes sense to me. If I get cancer and die young, it’ll be worth it for being one of the things that made my existence that much more interesting.
There are still x-series installers in the UK, and AFAIK they are registered appropriately and follow all the processes they should.
The reason I was wondering is because you can make some quite reasonable arguments or justifications for the RFID and NFC models, even the magnets are mostly inert if they break.
Whereas the risk from the xGLO at least sounds much worse if it comes across someone’s desk.
I was speaking strictly from the legal perspective, when I had my implants installed I needed to sign a liability agreement denouncing the person from responsibility of any issues.
Ultimately, what’s the worst case dose you would get from a full and brand new xGLO breaking in you? How much gas is actually in one?
I am not a biologist. So this may be entirely wrong. Hydrogen is likely to permeate out quite quickly anyway. But assuming it all stays then the biological half life is reasonably short too, and can be shortened with fluids if you know it is broken or damaged.
The other question is, are there actually any measurable x-rays coming from the xGLO from Bremsstrahlung? This is only something I discovered as I was looking at this question.
I kinda want one but cosmetics are low on my priorities and I would ned to do a lot more research first. I think tritium implants should be available, but I don’t think you should risk yourself or your brand by making them available. When I think of DT, I think of RFID microchips, whereas there are other brands in the community that come to mind for some other mods. Let tritium be supplied by smaller more risk-tolerant companies, anarchists, and the grey market.
I also voted “adults can decide themselves” because liberty is the highest ethic - but liberty means taking responsibility upon ourselves, and that means researching and publishing the risks and choosing not to exercise one’s liberty in a manner that puts our interests at risk. My advice would be that you shouldn’t sell it, but that you could advise the community with your own findings and techniques to help them make their implants as safe as possible. By not having monetary stakes in your own line of tritium DT would remain a neutral party that can test and review any tritium implants on the market. You could still offer sterilization and escrow for 3rd party tritium.
