Well it’s been a journey y’all, I’ve been a long time fan and outside follower looking in and have had the ApexRing for awhile now (lost track over 2 years ish?)
I recently decided I’m going all in. ApexFlex w EMV in R1. Finding the payment solution really convinced me it was time. It’s been really funny to me the different reactions people give when I talk about it. I did the “don’t email piercers” in the instructions for getting a practitioner to do the implant, and started emailing body piercing shops. I learned some interesting things about state law (strictest in the country) and that just bolstered my resolve and cemented the fact I was going to get it done. After contacting nearly every piercer and plastic surgeon in the area, two Drs got back to me and agreed to 1) do it, and 2) learn more about it. One was shocked but also intrigued, the other was like absolutely come on over. I don’t think people realize how insane the technology has become.
I would do it myself but I feel like it would be a whole lot easier for someone else, maybe in the future. My wife is absolutely against it and doesn’t understand and is worried I’ll be hacked haha. I cracked up. I think she’s accepted I’m not backing down. I can’t wait.
Lastly why I came here in the first place, am I making the right call with the Flex, or am I going to be disappointed? The Module seems a bit intimidating for my first and Drs first, I saw some reviews of mechanical ware though potentially for the Flex which makes sense because of the flexible circuits. Any thoughts, advice, recommendations?

pocket 5-10mm deeper than implant length to make room for 1) suturing, and 2) the backpedaling the implant will do toward the incision site as the pocket zippers closed from the far end while healing
do not handle the implant with forceps, pick it up with sterile gloves and insert it
I have the module, 100% worth the larger install. Compared to my x-series and my ug4 (same physical size as apexflex) it couples readily and easily with any reader i have tried it on.
It is less easy than a card, but only a bit. The flex ug4 always involves a bit more of a dance, some repositioning, and worst of all the angle seems to matter with the flex on some readers, but not with the module. Even if I had to reinstall, I would go module again. Antennas are something where size does matter, plus the magic signal capture thingy in the middle. I may not understand the math, but i can feel the results every time i use it. Flex is fine, module is noticably better.
Hah! That fishbone pattern is a tricky way to add capacitance to the circuit without needing a capacitor. It’s got the gaps to allow magnetic flux to pass through more easily so the antenna trace gets to absorb it properly.. and it looks cool.
Do you think the back of the hand is possible? Or too rigid? I use it exclusively for managing OTP and MFA so trying to install in an ideal location for that and payment / work badge.
I could live with the forearm but with two kiddos I worry about it getting snagged / cracked. They’re both boys and wild!
Back for the hand is possible for many people, not for others. That’s a decision for you and your installer.. but the module itself would not be the blocker.
