That is indeed good to hear…
But even better to hear is that Bidden won AND there wasn’t any significant armed movement to try and deny him… (wait, is it safe for me to say that yet?) :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Thanks for this pearl of wisdom, Rosco!
I’ll take it as a personal moto from now on!

Don’t count on it. We just trade one bucket of shit for another.

Yeah, but at least the new bucket of shit doesn’t look like it has a giant firecracker inside ready to go off.

That’s just the point - I know too little of Biden to say if he’ll be a good president (and I wouldn’t want to judge that anyway, just because I don’t live in the US), but he will surely be more predictable and far less psychopathic. Additionally, he doesn’t seem to be one who preaches hate and separation, and that’s a big plus. We have so many of those in and around Europe currently, it makes me afraid of the future. Hate will never solve any problem…

I don’t think many people think he’s a good canidate.
He’s just less shitty.

There are three things you can be 100% sure of with US presidents:

  • They’re megarich, and they like money more than they like serving their constituents. There has never been a poor US president. Ever.
  • They’re megalomaniac - of course they are, they wouldn’t be where they are if they were humble - and they like power just as much as they like money.
  • They’re the best candidates money can buy, and once elected, they serve the interests of their corporate sponsors first and foremost.

Whatever time they have left after they’re done serving their interests and that of their rich friends, they spend serving their country - perhaps, if you’re generous and naive enough to believe that.

Time will tell. If you look at the record, Trump has been the most peaceful president since Jimmy Carter. I’m concerned Biden is going to crank up the war machine yet again. Trump was not part of the political machine. His first political office was POTUS. Biden has been part of the corruption for 47 years.

I highly doubt that, but it depends on the definition. There are no wars where the US are currently engaged, yes. But to call someone peaceful who has done a great job in nearly starting a new civil war might be a bit… daring? His speeches were full of hatred, racism, sexism and whatnot, and he used to pour oil into every possible fire he could find. He kinda declared war on the environment by claiming that climate change simply has nothing to do with mankind.

Trump might have been a lot, but definitely not peaceful.

You give him far too much credit. He simply read a growing dissatisfaction in this country with our corrupt political system and used it to get elected - a dissatisfaction that is not limited to the right I might add (see Antifa).

Not a difficult thing to do, I agree - but don’t you think as the very leader of that country, he should try his best to solve this problem? Instead, he even fuelled the dissatisfaction, the fear, the prejudices. He took the people’s fears and told them ā€œno, it’s even worse!ā€ He encouraged people to arm themselves and roam the streets… that’s not really what I would expect from a leader of a country.

That’s actually a bit funny for me, for in Germany, what you call Antifa would be moderate left-wing, I think^^ The US is politically quite a bit more to the right side of the political spectre, so, dissatisfaction on the left side doesn’t really surprise me…

The organization that refers to themselves by that name in Portland Oregon has trashed the Democratic Headquarters. Not sure how the media is going to spin that.

Don’t get me wrong - I am against violence, no matter if it comes from right or left…
And believe me, we’ve got our own bunch of Antifa-idiots here (referring to those who think they have to burn and plunder the very districts where mostly alternative / left-wing people live…). But I still think that in general, the political ā€œmiddleā€ in America is what we in Germany would call at least middle-right.
I think for the kind of problems guys like the RAF in Germany made, most people in America wouldn’t even find a name (so far left that they’re coming out on the right side again? ).

I take it at word.

I would say I am Anti Fascism. That makes me Antifa. I am okay with that.

Can you link us source? No hate, just Antifa just means antifascism, that’s why people clowned on trump when he called it an organization instead of an ideology. Just want to know who are using that name as an organization and not just people with an ideology (some yes have incited violence but I’m not gonna talk on that coz it isn’t the time and place)
