The antiđŸš«-derailment🚃 & threadđŸ§” hijackingđŸ”« threadđŸ§” ⁉

There was an excellent demonstration of Van Eck phreaking at HIP in '97.

It is pretty impressive how much information can be captured with very little in the way of extra parts.

I’ve had a major breakthrough on this!

SHROOMS CURE COVID!!!

Now hear me out.
While shrooms do not actually cure covid (we must pretend they do), what they do do is activate areas of the brain such that people become much more empathetic (Win!) are often able to work through deep emotional fears and issues (needles and vaccines (Win! Win!)) and generally become more open to new ideas and differing viewpoints even if they disagree with them (JACKPOT WIN!!!)

Besides, because it’s actually an illegal drug, you’ll have all these people jumping at it because “the authorities” are trying to stop them. Put that overwrought notion of personal freedom to work for the light side of the force for once!

Only one major roadblock. Deploying the concept. I need you all to start harrassing any anti-vaccine / vaccine hesitant people you know that;

  1. There is absolutely no evidence that Shrooms cure or prevent Covid.
  2. All the social media reports they may or may not have seen promoting Shroom cures are false (in the most emphatic manner).
  3. Emphasise how strongly the scientific / medical community condemns Shroom treatment for Covid.

(if this works, I’m sooo claiming credit for it later :upside_down_face:)

Oregon is creating a psilocybin based psychiatric treatment program

And decriminalized all drugs

We have some deeply wrong and antiquated drug laws, but unfortuneatly decriminalizing or even legalizing at the state level, doesn’t roll back the federal laws.

This sucketh immensely. I see real benefits to mental health treatment with psilocybin. First thing though, the beauracracy is going to have to release it’s death grip, and we just aren’t there yet.

Those shrooms happen to grow in the forest behind our house. Little problem though, they look very much like another mushroom growing here, that just happens to be really poisonous. Like, it could kill you, so not the funny way of “poisonous”

Buuuuut I really like your idea
Our local "Querdenker"s would be a lot more funny when they’re on drugs, I guess

Just throw them :mushroom: ALL :mushroom: in a bowl with a sign saying, “the government don’t want you to have these.”

It will be a lottery, They will either get a trip or get dead
Yeah, maybe don’t do that.

Yeah sorry, I just didn’t find a good english word for that yet
It’s a bunch of people
all against vaccinations, against any restrictions because of Covid, against the government. And lots of them are neonazis, QAnon-guys (we have them here as well
^^), some alternative-medicine people, some old hippies, some people who claim Germany doesn’t really exist, because we’re still occupied by the USA
just some conglomerate of strange people. :woman_shrugging:

Nope. Not a good idea
But some mind-altering fun could lead to interesting results for sure
^^

Basically sounds like the people who need a conflict, and who are willing, in the abscence of a genuine conflict, to manufacture one.

In America, we call them assholes.

@coma, next time you’re in those woods (whoa, unicorn in the woods = mind blown)

Anyways. Next time you’re in the woods, pick a few and squish the stems to see if they turn blue. It’s supposed to be the defining characteristic of “Magic” mushrooms. I still wouldn’t risk poisoning myself, but it’d be a fun thing to investigate. Just see if you can tell the difference.

Also, someday my curiosity about irrelevant stuff is gonna get me in deep shit, but I refuse to quit thinking and learning.

Good to know, gonna try that out. Dunno if I’d risk to poison myself, most probably not
but like you said, it’d be nice to know.

And those woods are really magical! I love them so much
it’s a nature reserve, and parts of it are totally untouched. We had some storms here over the last decades, and so there are tons of dead trees lying around, and if you leave the paths, you feel like you’re in a true northern jungle.

Don’t. I’m sure you could find someone to help you identify what you’ve picked, but until you know for sure, it ain’t worth the risk.

Ahhhh please don’t. I grow normal mushrooms for fun. Friend I k own grow the magic ones.

Several will bruise.

A spore print is the safest way to identify, along with what it grows on and stuff.

If you want magic ones, buy a high times magazine and order a kit from there.

Does anyone know a reasonable cost place to order laser or waterjet cut parts?

I used to have a CNC plasma cutter that I built. I had intended to make things for the local tourist trade. Today I was digging around and found a sample I’d made and showed it to some friends, all of them were super interested, so I’m thinking of having some made. The plasma cutter wasn’t really hacking it as I had stencil cut letters that came out kinda iffy about 1/2 the time.

I tried emachineshop and bigbluesaw, but pricing was killer. I think I had originally pegged costs at 5-6 dollars each, and was planning on selling in the 10-12 dollar range. (It’s credit card sized in 3/16 steel.) But those places wanted 15 to 25 dollars apeice, which just isn’t possible.

Sorry not an answer, and I don’t know how much you are willing to invest, but have you considered something like a 3in1 machine (laser, 3D print, CNC) like this?

It should be good enough for little souvenir trinkets etc

Just a thought

If I was working in acrylic or wood, it might work. My prototype was 3/16 (4.7265MM) thick mild steel. I want to switch to 304SS. Thanks for the thought, though.

I tried every place I could think of and finally found a laser outfit online that could get it down to 2.88 per, if I stayed with steel. Which means more work on my end, cause everything needs to be painted.

All good, just a little Querdenker

Good luck with it.
Feel free to share here when you have something to show.

ALSO thanks for the conversion :+1:

Even without Google Translate, this one is fairly understandable for an English speaker: it literally means “queer thinker”. Not a far cry from “lateral thinker”.

At least it’s more readily understandable than DonaudampfschiffahrtsgesellschaftskapitĂ€n. Not saying German isn’t a huge source of income for aspirin manufacturers or anything

I would have thought “danube steamship company captain” would be one of those words that you don’t need very often any more.

Well I used it once didn’t I? And in a biohacking forum of all places. Who would have thought

True that
But I think German has some really nice words as well, often related to the time we had some great poets - I personally love the word “Sehnsucht”. It translates to “longing” or “yearning”, but if you take it literally, it’s more a “craving” or an “addiction to yearning”. I like it when you can somehow dismantle words to understand their meaning better or in a different way - sadly, I am only able to do this in German and not in other languages as well.

And yeah, you might think otherwise, but the DonaudampfschifffahrtsgesellschaftskapitĂ€n (you missed one “f” in the schifffahrt! :stuck_out_tongue: ) is a rarely used word in Germany. At least where I live, though I’m pretty far away from the danube

Far be it from me to belittle Germany’s contribution to the literary world (or indeed to the entire world). Where would we be without Goethe or Mo-Do
