Trying to change dual frequency ring password

Is this a sentence??

I have no idea what is going on. I tried to write my original post but it wouldn’t let me. All it let me write was that simple sentence.

Ugh your forum is converting my words into link without my permissions and that is why it’s rejecting my post.

Anyway here!

Yeah, the forum looks for keywords and links them to the product page or the wiki page associated with them.

Well they also have a policy rejecting post with more than two links for new users making it impossible for me to post.

Sorry you had to deal with that bullshit man. We’ve never encountered that problem with the making links out of words plugin thing before. In the future if you add a space somewhere in the offending word it will break the link and you can post.

Regarding the password, have you tried using the NFC Tools app, going to Other > Advanced NFC commands

Screenshot_20210622-125054

and entering:

1B444E4752,A2E5FFFFFFFF

In the prompt, replace FFFFFFFF with whatever password you want covered to ASCII using a converter like this, then placing the phone on your implant and hitting “Send command”?

Screenshot_20210622-125048

This will send two raw NFC commands
1B is password authenticate, followed by the default password. Separate the commands with a comma delimiter. A2 is the write command, followed by the page you want to write to (E5 for the password), followed by the four bytes that you want

Honestly I would be careful though. If you forget the password you’re fucked. The proximity required to read the ring means people aren’t likely to mess with it without your knowledge. Also password protecting doesn’t prevent anyone from reading the chip, and it will only protect the config bytes after E2 from being written to. If you want to protect the user memory you would need to change the AUTH0 byte (byte 4 of page E3) to 04.

I think what I was trying to do was protect the user memory. Still trying to figure NFC out. I’ve messed around with some tags I bought on Amazon and I protected the user memory on those. I just wanted to make sure no one can modify the records without authenticating first.

So it looks like E3 is already set to 04. However when I go into Other > Set Password I get a write error. E3 set to 04 00 00 E3 should allow me to set a write protect password right?

The PWD is stored in E5 which is currently locked if E3 is set to 04 00 00 E3, the last byte of E3 sets the start of the locked section
So, after you send those commands Satur9 showed you, you will also want to set the last byte of E3 to a byte prior to the user data you want to protect

Page E3 is set to 040000E3. The fourth byte (E3) is the AUTH0 byte, so you would need to write A2E304000004 to change it and password protect the user memory from being written (not read). Make sure you’re absolutely sure what the password is before you do that though.

Yep, as @Satur9 explained

Here are the First 2 forum levels explained.
Basically, it wont take you long to move out of that restriction

Level 0

Trust Level 0 – New

By default, all new users start out at trust level 0, meaning trust has yet to be earned. These are visitors who just created an account, and are still learning the community norms and the way your community works. New users’ abilities are restricted for safety – both theirs and yours.

(We also want to hide any “advanced” functionality from new users to make the UI less confusing for them as they gain more experience.)

Users at trust level 0 cannot

  • Send personal messages to other users
  • “Reply as new topic” via Link button (UI removed)
  • Flag posts
  • Post more than 1 image
  • Post any attachments
  • Post more than 2 hyperlinks in a post
  • Have actual links in the ‘about me’ field of their profile (will be silently and temporarily converted to plain text)
  • Mention more than 2 users in a post
  • Post more than 3 topics
  • Post more than 10 replies
  • Edit their own posts after more than 24 hours
Level 1

Trust Level 1 – Basic

At Discourse, we believe reading is the most fundamental and healthy action in any community. If a new user is willing to spend a little time reading, they will quickly be promoted to the first trust level.

Get to trust level 1 by…

  • Entering at least 5 topics
  • Reading at least 30 posts
  • Spend a total of 10 minutes reading posts

Users at trust level 1 can…

  • Use all core Discourse functions; all new user restrictions are removed
  • Send PMs
  • Upload images and attachments if enabled
  • Edit wiki posts
  • Flag posts
  • Mute other users

Yeah no I get it. The problem was that I had not intentionally made the links. However Satur9’s work around should do the trick. It just confuses new comers like me.

I guess I misunderstood where the fourth byte was. I thought it was read from right to left. Thank you though.
