Want to pay BTC at POS terminal

I give up.

So write a vcard to the first NFC record in your tag and your BIP38 to the second NFC record using NFC tools and see mycelium it still reads the tag. Wont that give you the answer you seek?

This is a custom point of sale terminal constructed just to show a proof of concept Bitcoin payment solution. It’s not a commercial solution.

Time to explore integration with @VivoKey!

Yes ideed!!

It’s now out of the scandinavian countries. Fidesmo Pay now works with VIMpay in Germany. That should work with with Vivokey!!

Would be nice to see internetbanks like N26 and Revolut adept Fidesmo.

Yeah I’m not really sure what VIMpay is or how they work… they are not a bank… or don’t appear to be. What exactly do they do?

After going through this conversation, I got curious and researched General Bytes’ approach to NFC wallets: based on what I read, as other people already pointed out, this is basically insecure and defies the purpose of using cryptography in the first place.

There’s an article here: Forget QR Codes, NFC Bitcoin Wallet Cards Are Here – News Bitcoin News . While the writer seems to be enthusiast about these NFC wallets, he paints a sketchy picture to say the least: no tech details and an admission that the inspiration comes from people storing private keys in ndef partitions.
One commenter points out that sharing private keys is uber bad practice and the answer is
ā€œYes. That’s why we recommend using the companion app on your phone at untrusted merchants and use a separate card for savings. The Point of Sale terminals are tamper proof so that will not be an issue.ā€

Which basically means: ā€œyeah, don’t trust anybody else with your keys, but you can trust us, because we’re good peopleā€.
I don’t even want to start to point out why this is fishy, sketchy and wrong.

I’m not sure why this needs to be this way… maybe we approach them once the VivoKey Flex One is available… then keys could stay on the chip.

With a german bank account one can top up the VIMPay credit card. Anyone with a VIMpay account can use Fidesmo Pay.

Hit me up to get in touch with them (GB), their founders are known here

That would indeed be a killer application if the keys could stay on the chip.

I hope for more fintech internetbanks to join like N26 and Revolut. With those banks anyone in Europe can apply for a bankaccount. You, don’t have to be a citizen in the country the bank resides.

That also applies for VimPAY. You don’t have to be a German citizen to apply for an account in contrast to the listed scandinavian banks on the Fidesmo Pay website.
