WIKI - NFC phone performance

Found this link which lists most phones with NFC capability. Also shows where the NFC antenna is located on each of the phones.

A bit dated but a nice resource still for sure.

Been on the fence, to trade in my P6Pro for the P9Pro. I dont need a new phone, but I want the better camera etc etc.

I have the 8 and I really enjoy it. I may skip this version. I don’t need more AI

Yeah, I skipped the 7 and 8, didnt seem like too much of an improvement…

The only thing that I like is the 9 moved away from the glass back.

So I just got a Motorolla Razr Plus 2024 as my first flip phone and so far am loving it.

Compared to my old phone (an LG Velvet) this thing reads my implants like a dream. I have an Apex flex and a NExT and on my old one I would need to place my hand perfectly and wait for it to do a stronger pulse to read the NExT and for the apex (weirdly enough) I had to remove the case as well as place it well. With the Razr Plus 2024, I just slap my hand at the middleish of the back of the phone and it just works with minimal fiddling for either of them. I don’t have a case yet but I tried using a wood coin thing about as thick as a USB plug (I have nothing better to measure with atm) as a separator and still got it to work. With the separator, it seems like I need to actually line up with the outer edge of the antenna more but it still seems quite generous!

using the field tester, it seems that the phone detects the disturbance in the field or something when I first put the detector on the antenna and does 5 really strong pulses before going to a really dim flicker until I remove it. This isn’t a pattern as it never repeats no matter how long I leave the detector on there so my theory is it does a probe pattern that picks up the change without even lighting the detector and then initiates these wake-up pulses before trying to communicate maybe? Not 100% sure but it works well.

The antenna shape is about as you would expect. the back (the only non-screen surface of the phone) has the wireless charging and NFC antennas in a circle going mostly to the edge of the device and seemingly perfectly centered on the device and the logo.

Oh, also, for those with a titan, all 4 corners have a magnet to play with!
