xG3 self-implanted yesterday - no lidocain, zero pain

Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum and with this first post I just want to share my small personal contribution and experience after self-implanting an xG3 v2 yesterday.

The implant was done with the standard injector. Placement was chosen carefully beforehand: it’s on the left side of my left hand, about 2 cm from the little finger, positioned so it wouldn’t interfere with grip, pull-ups, or handstand work (I tested movements before deciding the spot). I didn’t use lidocaine. I simply cleaned the area thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol before insertion. The implantation itself was extremely easy and honestly pain was basically non-existent.

For the insertion technique: I inserted the injector, then retracted it about 1 cm to create the pocket, pushed the plunger to deploy the implant, and then withdrew the needle. While withdrawing the needle I applied slight pressure over the implant site to prevent the magnet from coming back out with the injector. The implant ended up about 1 cm from the entry point, positioned just under the skin.

About 40 minutes after the implant I started doing a few curiosity tests. It immediately held a paperclip without any issue. Then I tried a small steel screw and could clearly feel the magnetic pull when bringing my hand close, the screw stayed attached and I could feel the tension in the tissue. Right now there’s only a small bandage and very mild swelling. The implant feels stable and doesn’t shift when moving the hand.

For the 24-hour dressing change I cleaned the surrounding skin with hydrogen peroxide, but only as a superficial disinfectant for the outer skin. I made sure to keep it away from the puncture itself, since the tissue there is already starting to close the injection channel and I didn’t want to interfere with the healing process. Below a photo from this stage (about 24 hours after implantation) showing how the entry point looked during the dressing change.

I’m curious how the magnetic sensitivity will evolve over the next days once inflammation drops and the tissue settles. I’ve read that perception and coupling sometimes improve after healing. If anyone with long-term xG3 v2 experience wants to share how sensing and lifting strength changed after healing, I’d really appreciate hearing about it.

I’ll happily post updates as it heals.
