If you can get me some flat needles (if they exist) I’ll work on a flex applicator

they don’t exist as an off the shelf product. i could get custom ones made, but this is very expensive to set up and each needle is also very expensive. i almost think taking existing 4G needles and running them through a press mill a few times to take them down to a specific repeatable oval shape would be a better use of funds / effort.

there is also the fact that they are a bit more difficult to maneuver under the skin.. i’m not sure it would be a good idea actually. inserting the 4G needle, removing it, then manually placing the narrow flex form factor works quite well.

For shits n giggles I’m gona attempt to make a a jig to squish the needle into the corect shape . With an internal piece to hold the corect delivery shape. Hopefully with a custom piston. It will fit onto the existing adapter in the same way. Hold my beer…

Any idea on how to handle the piston of the required thickness? Depending on the material and moisture during sterilisation it might impact the material in a way that it might get brittle, especially since it would be very thin, right?

Maybe some kind of metallic strip could be utilised for this, like the ones you find in those self-retractable tape measures?

We use gas plasma not steam sterilization, so for us the material would not absorb water. If it was a concern the plunger could be injection molded using traditional PVC plastic.

For small batches, it might even be cheaper to do a stainless plunger with a plastic cap pusher on the end

I nearly used a q tip as the piston.
