Hi,
I have a dog-coded client who is looking for alternative locations for an implant (neck area)
Has anyone had any previous experience with these types of locations?
any info would be greatly appreciated
@Bloe apparently has(d?) one in the side of his neck
More info on placement:
I don’t see that it would be too problematic an area, especially compared to some of the other things that have been tried, but I’m not a doctor nor an installer nor do I have any chips outside of my hands
I got one below the clavicle to mirror the BeUno on the other side. Not super useful other than a nice memo from the meetup
Which implant do they have/want?
You mention NFC which is HF, most pet chips are LF
There are a couple of people here that have registered themselves on pet databases
(@Vicarious @Equipter…)
What your client could do is, with a NExT, change the LF side fro EM410X to FDX-B choose their own Chip number, and also write an NDEF weblink to the HF (NFC) side that can be scanned by a phone, which would direct the person to the pet database and their chip ID number.
Just something to consider
Thanks for this info, we were looking more for implant location info (regarding safety and comfort for the client while still giving dog-coded vibes
I can’t be the only one who’s lost about this part. What does it mean?
Simply put, they are a pup.
and are looking for an implant in an area that may reflect this
To put it flat out:
I’d make sure that it is placed somewhere that it won’t interfere with a collar of any kind, just, to get that out of the way. Same thing with any other kind of muzzle or bondage device they could be into using.
Rather than the neck, for actual dogs, the more standard site for a microchip placement is under the skin between the shoulder blades. I guess you could call that the lower neck…
For correct placement, Some of the loose skin between the shoulder blades is gently pulled up, and the needle is there, but a human doesn’t reallly have that same loose skin.
At least one schizophrenic thought he had a chip in his neck, but as expected, there was no detail or evidence, so thats not going to help.
Ideally, you want to avoid tight skin, I guess that will come down to the individual so you are probably in the best position to make that decision.
I also guess, vertically inline with the spine may be a better orientaion than horizontal
Sorry I cant give you better answers, i am personally not aware of this install location into a human, however, I’m sure there will be a “pup” forum where this has been done before.
Somebody else here may be able to help you further though…
Kudos for coming here to ask, and if you do this install, it would be greatly appreciated if you could document it for others.
