Update re the cheap AliExpress readers, using some questionable software, you can change the desired output. 
For these; 13.56mhz ISO14443A HF Tiny Size RFID OTG Android Phone USB Type-c Interface Portable Handheld IC Card Reader. The two units I’ve tested could not interpret 7-byte HEX correctly… every other variation has no issue.
For these; Adjustable Mini Portable TK4100 EM4100 RFID 125KHz S50\S70 14443A 13.56Mhz Proximity Smart EM Card USB ID Rfid Card Reader. The same software works, with no issues.
