Any beginner recs?

hey there! I’ve been doing some casual research on biohacking / implants over the past few years due to my love for radio and I’ve been toying around with NFC/RFID & a Flipper Zero, and now I want to get myself an implant! I’ve been eyeing the NExT2 (blue led ofc) but just want a second opinion before I go ahead with it. Gonna mess around with the NFC and copy my student ID to it (ValuProx, which is LF AFAIK, and the NExT2 has a set HF (hey, I’m getting better at remembering specs!))

also - I’ve seen most implants go in the “dead space” between the thumb and index of the left hand, is this reccomended for first-timers? And is the flipper a good enough tool so far, or should I jank together a better antenna for it / buy a proxmark? My only other fear is having a “dead” chip after implanting, since you can’t exactly test it through the syringe body…

Thanks in advances for the response(s)!

You may have found your people my friend.

Ooooh, here come the shortwave enthusiasts. (we got nerds of all flavors)

Excellent choice. Mine is NExT, but is pre-blinkey. Unless you’ve got a super specific use case, this one is almost always the best choice, now with 100% more blinkey!

It’s the easiest access both for install, and “presenting” to readers. At least for me. I recommend dominant hand too.

Welcome to the forum, you’re gonna love it. Whereabouts are you (in general), it helps when you need to find an installer.

Great choice!

I’m not familiar, but believe ValuProx is a generic brand that does some LF stuff, iirc.

P0 is a great and easy start. I do like P1 and P4 too. I also have a NExT (1st implant I got) in my wrist.

thanks for the warm welcome! New York New York (Manhattan); born, raised, and still alive here. Was thinking of possibly self-installing, but heard that was not the best idea per se, although I do have experience giving stuff like piercings to some friends.

The reader I need to scan into is on my left, but if I was going to get another one I would probably do dominant hand too.

I was going to get the NExT, but then saw the blinkey… and who can resist the blinkey?

~airwaves~ and comically large power supplies tickle the 'tism in a very specific way - can’t blame any of us lol

proud to be here now!

My flipper reads it as HIDH10301, but to my knowledge it’s 125kHz since it only really seems to work with the “125kHz RFID” app (duh) - if I order the NExT2 I’m going to use the diag card to check before installing (ooh wait, I think there’s an app on the flipper zero to ID it - worth a shot! Besides, I could always ask them to rebind my account in the system to my set HF ID if needed)

oh damn, I remember seeing that chart a while back, along with the install guide PDF, but couldn’t find it - thanks! Also how is the wrist implant doing, does it get in the way of anything or such? Most likely going to do P0 though - it’s what I imagined the whole time, everyone says its the easiest, and it’s easy to show off the blinkey :stuck_out_tongue:
I also like P1 and P4 - question is, if I get more, do I spread them over both hands or keep my left hand as the “modded” one lol

However it tickles your fancy. We’ve had at least one member install in:

Ear lobe (tragus)
Their butt cheek.
Foot.
Penis.

Totally, and also recommended would be a 2in1 implant like the NExT, xMagic, Next2

There’s you answer
On you flipper if you use RFID ( Should be called LF) and it reads, then it is LF
If you use NFC then its HF

Ahhh, there you go, You’re already a pro

Yep, but as above, you don’t need to, although, it might tell you if the reader is multiclass

Fair enough, can’t remember the why, but if you needed to hide a little bit of data on your person…

Who’s gonna check that?

On the cute flipside Satur9 and his partner used to have matching magnets that aligned when holding hands.

I guess I’m just saying, you be you. Whatever that is, A. We’re cool with it, and B. Nerds rule.

yup - next2 is the plan, thanks!

besides, the more info, the better :)

it doesn’t read with RFID, but it does read with 125kHz rfid - I use Momentum fw so maybe it has something to do with that? idk
Didn’t know HF is NFC by default though, thats sweet, thanks - i need to learn more on nfc

A certain other physically related something has a way larger data transfer rate, just saying… iykyk

Nerd match made in heaven, I love it

Nerds rule! Gonna get myself the Next2 in blue then, thanks y’all for the advice! Still unsure about install, might self-install though.

Also thanks to y’all for all the replies, it’s so nice seeing a community like this <3

It is doing well at 550ish days.

The scar is gone, so I’ll use a red pen to show you exactly where it is here… It does not get in the way of anything and is probably my favorite non-(P0-P5) glassie location. This one is now getting used as a partial password to sign into my desktop using an off-brand version of the KBR1 HF (off brand because it only cost $16.50 US).

Yup. I started my journey with a NExT in my Left hand, and I use both the LF and the HF every day. LF for door access to work and HF’s UID as my domain password (plus a couple of hand typed characters). Left hand works well for me because of the position of the readers that I present to.
I also have an xG3 in P1 for holding tiny screws while I’m working.
My other hand has an xSIID in P0 and another in P1.
I’m seriously considering putting the NExT2 in a P3 slot to see if it gets better range to my readers there than the one in P0. As it is now, about 50% of the readers (of various different brands) at the 2 buildings I work at will see me – and on the Honeywell, I have to position my hand perfectly. Sometimes it takes a few swipes, and I had to learn the sweetspots with the field detector before I was able to get a read on my implant. So, I’m debating NExT2 in P3 or a flexEM and flexNT in my wrist to get some better range…or all three…hmmmmmm.
And it’s worth repeating that range will be crap in the first couple of weeks after install. then it gets somewhat better.
Personally, I don’t use anything other than my phone and my Flipper to access my devices, so I think you’re set there unless you want to do a lot of tinkering!

Welcome to the community! Can’t wait to see your first post-installation post.
