Would love to read a review before buying one and I don’t see a lot of discussion surrounding it.
For anyone with one installed, how is the read/write range and the overall experience?

i have one… have yet to have time to install it. any info i have heard on it is not only is it great, but it is very bright also.
I have the first NExT in my right hand and the NExT-V2 in my left hand, I think the reading is the same but it seems much easier because of the light that confirms that it works. The light is very bright so it is visible even in a well-lit room.
Is it actually brighter or is that speculation? Maybe @amal can chime in. I’ve been looking forward to this release forever lol
The NEXTv2 is my first NFC/RFID implant, and I couldn’t be happier with it. I had been thinking about getting an implant for years, and just happened to revisit Dangerous Things on the exact day they announced the NEXTv2. I took it as a sign and immediately added it to my cart. I received the implant, and got it installed 4/14/25
From my research, I knew the read/write range could be affected by swelling for the first few days—personally, the swelling lasted around 2–3 days, but your experience may vary. Once the swelling subsided, my Flipper Zero had no issues reading or writing to either chip.
13.56MHz (NFC):
The NFC chip works great with larger antennas, like those in the Flipper Zero. I’ve programmed mine to link to a website, and it reads and writes reliably using the Flipper. That said, performance with my iPhone 16 Pro is a bit spotty—I suspect this is due to the smaller NFC antenna in the phone. It does work, but only in a very specific position: the top of the phone must be perpendicular to the implant and pressed against the skin. This isn’t an issue with the implant itself—just a limitation of phone antennas.
125kHz (RFID):
I cloned my work fob to the 125kHz chip, and it’s been rock solid. It scans easily with the RFID readers at my workplace, likely because those readers have larger antennas. I use it every day and can count on one hand the number of times I’ve had to reposition my hand to get it to scan. It’s been very reliable for daily use.
Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with the performance of the NEXTv2. It’s been dependable, practical, and a great conversation piece. I’m thinking about getting an xMagic next!
If you’ve got any questions, feel free to reach out!
I got the white LED. It is great, but had a little drumming accident so it is healing again after a hit with a drumstick. It reads pretty well with iphone, and the light freaks everybody out. I use it for artistic purposes, as seen in the video.
I implanted the NextV2 on Saturday and it is my first implant. I was immediately able to read the HF side and the blue light was BRIGHT. Honestly way brighter than I was expecting. however the LF side has been giving me fits since install. I was able to program it day 1 with my Proxmark III but it was difficult to find the sweet spot.
I work in the access control industry and I have many readers at my disposal so far I have found the following results but I hope as it heals more it will improve it has been less than a week so far. I knew it wouldn’t work as far as my ring did.
Openpath/Avigilon Alta (Both Mullion & Standard & Intercom)
-LF NO READ
-HF reads with VERY specific positioning vertically between ring light and bottom
HID (Prox Point & Prox Pro)
-LF Reads ok when implant side of hand is within 1cm of reader
-HF (NOT SUPPORTED)
Wavelynx (Standard)
-LF (READ) **implant should be Vertically centered on the top left on light or centered on the bottom.
-HF (NO READ) ***Pretty sure this is disabled by default
HID RP40
-LF Read **Implant should be vertically centered on the top under the light bar.
-HF (NO READ) ***Pretty sure this is disabled by default
Honeywell Omniprox (Mullion)
-LF Read **Implant should be verticaly centered on the bottom
-HF NOT SUPPORTED
oh man… photos / videos of these would be amazing!
Hi Amal,
Will the LED come out front or back when the NextV2 injection is implanted?
I’m no Amal, but here’s some discussion referencing the xSIID, one of the NExTv2’s parent implants. It is likely that DT may try to get as many as possible in where the LED comes out first, but it is possible that the people assembling them may not do it correctly.
Your best bet if you have a decent and competent installer, is to (at the time of install) have them push the implant to slightly poke out of the injector and look. If the LED is out, simply pull the plunger back out and tap the implant back in as needed with a sterile tool. If it is in the wrong orientation, it can always be flipped if done in a careful and sterile manner. (If sterile plastic tweezers are available, these could work well.)
Mine came out LED first not sure if they’re all the same
Mee too
+1 for LED first on my V2
