I ordered 3 apex Flex’s approximately 2+ years ago. I had 2 installed and the third was installed in my Partner forearm towards the elbow.
Mine has been working fine but my partners hadn’t been checked for the last 12 months.
A couple of days ago I went to update the NDEF file installed on it and it would not read with the Fidesmo app installed on my iPhone.
I then tried my android phone with NXP Tag Writer and it intermittently read the Apex Flex.
Then used Fidesmo on iPhone to destroy the current NDEF file as it was locked through Fidesmo. Then went to re-install NFC Sharing and the install failed.
Now I can’t get a read from the Iphone or Android phone.
At one stage got the Error NFC could not Start It looks like NFC couldn’t be started at the moment Please try again.
Any suggestions on how I can get this to read?
My partner did have an MRI approximately 3 months ago. I also had an MRI and both my Apex Flex’s worked straight after.
It is probably not the situation here, but just to cover it off. There might be a possibility that with the install of a Flex in the forearm, it has caused the chip to lift slightly, meaning when there’s no continuity, It wont read, but if it Flex’s and makes contact at may allow it to read.
Try doing some further reading applying a bit of pressure when doing. This may help us identify or rule this out as a possibility.
not so firm as to cause a break, you’ll get the idea
iPhones don’t have the best NFC antennas, but you can improve your odds of a succesful read if you place the very top edge of the iPhone parallel with the Apex.
Also, a MFGC can really help
With the android, place the NFC antenna parallel to the Apex and try that again.
There is a way to manually destroy the app, but let’s persist with Fidesmo for now.
It is important to get good coupling when deploying and destroying apps, also check that it destroyed properly (look through the app list and make sure, it it says either Destroy (meaning it is still installed)
or Connect (meaning is is NOT installed)
if it says something else, it likely means it jas not destroyed properly…
Try the suggestions above and see how you go
What Android phone do you have?
MRI higlhy unlikely to have any affect at all…basically zero
I did try and flex it slightly after reading some other comment in my searches.
Will try again and see if I have any luck.
The 2 flex’s I have scan every time with my iPhone and Samsung A23. I have a marker on the phone to show were the NFC antenna is and I also put a dot on the skin to mark the exact location of the chip so everything lines up perfectly.
I did re-install the fidesmo app and since then I have not been able to connect the Apex so I can’t check the list to see if it was destroyed properly.
Will pay around with it more tonight and then update.
If you reply to your order confirmation or click the help button on the store (hopefully with information that will help me find the order), we’ll talk warranty options.
