Trying to wrap my head around the VivoKey lineup before buying. Could you check my math and logic?
I’m comparing the Apex Mega ($389) and the Apex Flex Spectrum Fast Blink ($429). Am I right that the only real difference between these two is the LED? As in, the Mega is “blind” and the Flex Spectrum has the blinking RGB?
Also, just to be sure: does the standard Apex Flex differ from the Mega only because the Mega is a larger round disc with a bigger antenna? Do they share the exact same chip inside?
One more thing. Is the Flex Spectrum Fast Blink basically the most expensive and top-tier product you can buy on the site right now? I want to get the absolute best and most packed device available.
My main use case will be using it as a crypto wallet. Which one of these two would be better for that? Thanks in advance!
The Mega is flex-y bio-polymer while the Spectrum is hard bio-resin to help protect the LED, the spectrum is thicker and rigid
There’s some room for personal opinion on “best” product, but probably the most capable would be a Module Apex Ring Conversion:
The Module antenna has by far the best range, and the ring conversion is the only Apex implant with Fidesmo Pay enabled, although no LED if that matters to you

Could you please clarify what the Apex Ring conversion looks like once it has been converted into an implant?
Will it look approximately the same as a standard Apex Flex (Narrow)? The photo on the product page seems to suggest that.
Or is it possible to have it made in the same form as the Spectrum implant, with the round shape and LED?
Also, as I understand it, the main difference between the Apex Ring conversion implant and the standard Apex implant line is that it supports Fidesmo Pay, allowing it to be used as a payment card. Is that correct?

There are slow blink versions out there. I think nobody was ordering those so Amal asked me to only populate fast blink last run. Since they’re not “in stock” right now you’d have to specifically ask for a slow blink one, then I could populate it for you and send it to DT for fabrication into an implant.

I noticed that the transparent coating shown on the product page looks a bit more handmade and less industrial than the coating on the standard Apex implants, so I was curious about the manufacturing process.
Regarding the form factor, I’d specifically like the round version with the LED, similar to the Apex Spectrum. You mentioned that this is possible, but could you explain how it’s done? As far as I understand, the original ring doesn’t have LEDs. I can see how it could be converted into a Narrow-style implant, but how is the Spectrum version made?
Do you have any photos of a converted ring in the Spectrum form factor?
Also, do you have any information about how this implant behaves during an MRI? Is there any risk that it could be damaged or stop working?
The coating is exactly the same. We do them in house Flex devices have always been hand made.
Regarding the antenna options, all of our smart card implants use the exact same antennas. The one difference is we strike-out the “Apex” on the flexSecure variant.
No materials of concern in terms of safety. There is one report of a 7T 13T MRI frying an implant–but that was an x-Series so the ferrite likely came into play which the flex implants do not have.
The only difference is the little black chip–it’s from an Apex ring instead of a fresh package.
Does it retain all the same functionality as the Apex Ring, including the ability to use it as a payment card (that’s the killer feature, and the main reason why it’s worth having the device converted into an implant)?
