Apex Ring Conversion
INTRODUCTION
A number of years ago, I got the original payment conversion done, it worked perfectly, UNTIL my bank pulled the support to my converted card.

This was probably actually a blessing in disguise. This card had a 5 year expiry, but with this new offering, there is no expiry as it is a tokenised payment, so long as you have a compatible bank, you are golden.
Compatible banks are dependent on your geographic location.
In New Zealand, I thought I didn’t have any option available to me,
BUT
along came the fucking legend @Mage who discovered that Ether.fi accounts do issue virtual Visa cards which can be tokenized to Apex Ring conversions.
There is a list of non-compatible countries and USA states that are not compatible, but fear not, there are simple work arounds for the blocked states.

Dangerous Things will purchase an Apex Ring on your behalf and convert it to a subdermal implant. Like the normal Apex implants, the Apex Ring conversion supports many applications like FIDO passkeys, OTP authenticator codes, PGP, etc. but also supports Fidesmo Pay features, allowing your Apex Ring conversion implant to be used to make payments!
TESTING INCLUDING READ RANGES
APEX Ring Conversion (Narrow)
I don’t have access to an EFTPOS terminal. but I tested read range with the following
REMEMBER The antennas are tuned for under the skin, this testing was done still in the packaging so the ACTUAL range will be better
- Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra with a Midwest GadgetsRepeater Sticker = ~8mm
- Flipper Zero with a Midwest Gadgets Flipper Zero Field Enhancer = ~10mm
- ACR122U = ~12mm
I will update with in-vivo testing once it is installed and healed

I have only done a test payment in-vitro with my Narrow
You will note, as I have limited time at the terminal, I approached the antenna perpendicular initially to see what sort of read range I would get, If it read from this angle, I would expect VERY easy reads when presented parallel (as you should do with a flex)
And you should have seen, when oriented correctly, it did read easy, which is a good sign, because, The antennas are tuned for under the skin
One of my concerns with Ether.fi, as I am not US based or using US Dollars, Nor am I EU Based using Euro, I wasn’t sure what the conversion rate / fee would be for purchases.
In the example above, that makes the conversion rate / fee ~2%, which I think is pretty reasonable. There is a loading fee too, so the get you at both ends, but it is insignificant.
I can only assume, if you are in the EU or USA, you will not pay a fee
I haven’t dived too deep into this, but what I do know is:
It works!!! Pretty much in the majority of countries.

WELL, it WAS the BEST.
There is something else that is just a little bit better, But I cant tell you here, If you are in the DT Club you are already aware, and can now buy it now.
