Apex Ring? or alternative

What’s the deal with this thing? does it exist? The site for it still says reserve one.

Is there anything similar? I’m in Canada and I recall seeing another ring with a Apex chip in it and was going to pull the trigger on but was US only.

The story is kind of long yet boring. We planned to launch the Apex Ring alongside a partnership with Curve USA to provide payment integration features. Unfortunately they are a European company who had no idea how to operate in the US and what the US market wanted. They folded pretty quickly and left us without a payment partner in the US.

We still have Apex Ring inventory but we’re opting to not sell it directly to the public. There are… other uses we have for this inventory.

The other ring you might have noticed is the Cybernetic Ring, which is an offchute company. They are currently out of inventory but that’s being worked on.

Either way, no payment partners exist in the Americas at this stage, so that feature won’t be useful to you unless you have a compatible European bank account somehow.

Not in it for the payment so thats a non issue, mostly looking for a apex chip to play with

Edit: lol the Encrypter Ring doesnt ship outside of the US so that was probably the one I saw before. Guess I am SOL

Ah yes… Encrypter is the new name for Cybernetic… they are still finding their footing

You have options, and depending on exactly what you are wanting to do, potentially the cheapest and best foot in the door is the Java Test Card, (It is actually a closer approximation to a FlexSecure, but that is similar enough to an Apex to be satisfied)

It comes pre-installed with a few popular appletss, And It works with Apex Manager

I have one as a backup to my backup and it’s great, it may be excessive, but for $20 it’s a no brainer
HOWEVER
I would also highly recommend the ApexFlex and/or FlexSecure
I have one of each, plus my card…

so if you get a card and you start adding your digital security and identity, you might want to keep it somewhere very secure. Under your skin is a far safer place to store such a “powerful” device, so if you can, get yourself an Apex (Or FlexSecure)

Not necessarily…I’ll DM you…

The card would be a good backup to have around, I was considering the ring as something to use until I can hook up with someone who could install a flex implant.

The card while appealing at that price would be a pain in the ass to fish out of my wallet every time I needed to use the apex app or log into my pc lol

totally, and Password manager , and 2FA etc.
that’s why my card is only a backup.
it COULD be used, and it is a good first step BUT an implant (or ring) is far more convenient

I’m also interested to know which rings are available currently, in Europe (France).

From Cybernetic (called Barricade™ Security Ring on the website, seems to be Z-1 Encrypter Ring originally), it’s only delivered to USA (from the website at least) and VivoKey Apex Ring is out of stock (since several years?).

Both those rings seem to have the feature I’m interested in, with NFC (no battery for long life!) :

  • payment
  • tesla key
  • FIDO2

ps : i didn’t find a way to DM people, am i dummy or is it a limitation for new users ?

I know it’s a big step from a ring to an implant
BUT
The implants have the same tech, but more secure (you cant lose them)

Worth checking out
ApexFlex and FlexSecure

If you are just wanting to test out the technogy, it might be worth getting a card

This is the same chip as the flex secure (it a different user experience than the Apex, but the same tech capabilities)

Cybernetic do a card also

2 things

  • Nothing wrong with DM’ing people, but if its something that others can learn from, posting public is the better option
  • “new users” can’t, they can only reply. But you are now “Basic user” so you SHOULD be able to DM.

Let me know if you are still having problems.

Just to clarify, the implants aren’t compatible with fidesmo pay

Thanks for the info, guys.

I’ve already read @Pilgrimsmaster messages above, but thanks for the reminder.

I think i’ll also use the javacard as a backup, and as the main device for my computer (because there is a card reader, so I don’t need an nfc reader). But delivery fees are 78$ to France . Maybe I can find another seller or do it myself with another card, but I don’t have enough knowledge for that now.

About DM, I’m now able to do them indeed (I was reading the forum without account and just registered before my first message, so no DM at this time).

I wanted to contact @amal in DM because he sent a DM previously to @ColdCanuck about the same subject (but for Canada). Anyway, I understand you remark about sharing informations (I hate it when people ask a question about how to solve their problem and they finally reply “it’s solved", without providing their answer).

About another ring : I messaged cnick.io about their ring :

I’m interested by the payment ring with tesla key features.
But i would also like to use it as a FIDO2/U2F key.

Do you plan to add this features in the future ? Is it possible to do it now by adding some applet to the ring ?

And their reply was somehow no, no to be able to add applets, like it was written somewhere on the forum, by amal, I think (I say somehow, because they don’t really reply to both my questions) :

At this time, our rings work exclusively with Tesla vehicles. Please note that the ring has a UID that can be used; however, the chip is locked for security reasons, so it is not possible to load any data onto it. In addition to the Tesla key and payment features, our rings can also be used for link sharing.

So, for now, I didn’t find a ring for Europe. Wait and see

You can buy in Europe from “upgraded humans”

They have also a payment chip.

I think you need 2 implant, one for payment and then the “apex”
