Don’t know if it’s just the quality of the video, but, it looks like you could just jam a fingernail between the frame and the keypad and tear it off. 
it is nfc, if i remember correctly the cards that they deliver with were some kind of java applet card (i have one somewhere) Ill try to dig up what it was again. unsure about compatibility with mifare’s though.
There are some alternate versions but they are all nfc as far as i am aware. Ill try to get my hand on one soon as i wanted to see how well it worked with home assistant.
