A little over a year ago, I posted about ordering my NExT, looking for people in the SW MI area that could install it. Well, many delays and a move to KY later, I finally got it done! As of when I’m posting it, I am on day 3 of having it in. I ended up having my uncle do it (he’s not a professional piercer, but he’s very familiar with aseptic procedure.) Pain and swelling are far beyond my expectations (as in, there’s pretty much no pain or swelling at all post-op), and I’m getting the hang of reading and writing to the NFC side reliably. iPhones seem to have a bit fussy antenna placement. I’m planning to use the RFID side to unlock my house, as I’m currently conceptualizing a homebrewed smart home setup. As for the NFC, I’m gonna make basically an applet that acts as a business card and landing for some of my projects, but until that’s done, it rickrolls people! Feels great to finally have it done, and I’m looking forward to seeing what else I can do with it down the road.
