I’d suggest soaking the completed fully cured implant in 70% IPA or chlorhexadine and using benzalkonium chloride prior to implanting.

I kept mine in solution for about a year but switched out the chlorhexadine every month (a week or 2 would likely be long enough but I had delays).

I soaked it in 70% IPA for 2 weeks to test for leaks, once no leaks were found:

Iodine for 2 weeks, then a 70% IPA wash (and toss old IPA from wash) then a soak for 2 weeks. It was supposed to be implanted after this but I had delays so I switched to chlorhexadine and replaced the solution every month.

Benzalkonium chloride was used to clean the skin prior to numbing and implanting.

I also want to add: Some people have used SuGru, but that doesnt mean it should be attempted. That applies here too (with any DIY coating like AA FDA16, SuGru, MED-375, MED-320, MED-302-3M, Platinum cure silicone, etc).

I suggest sending it to Amal (or someone else who’s capable) to at least verify the integrity and sterility of the coating.

If that’s not possible: I’d suggest using a vacuum chamber to degass the epoxy prior to potting. Then use a microscope to visually check the coating after it’s curred.

Keep in mind: FDA16 is porous and once implanted and healed, the coating will heal into the skin.

Personally I’m not too excited about the day it needs to be removed lol.
