Bioresin question

Hi! I had a couple of questions regarding the new bioresin implants. I currently have a flexUG4 in my R2 location and have been loving it, except the read range for certain readers involved squishing my hand more closely to the reader and hoping it can read fully.

My question is, would replacing the flexUG4 with a dUG4T be a good idea? I am unsure if the bioresin will have a slight curve to it for my hand or would be a large flat disc that could poke out from my hand.

My other concern then would be durability, as I wouldn’t want it to crack or break while implanted. I imagine having this implant and having my partner rest on my hand for it to snap in half and cause a nightmare of an issue.

Lastly then, if the back of the hand is not a viable location for the dUG4T, what would be an ideal location that’s good for a badge reader that’s not going to make me contort myself?

Much appreciated! Thank you!

Welcome!

This. It is totally rigid. Roughly the size of an American quarter. I don’t think I would replace, I think I would supplement in another location–likely on the opposing hand for symmetric access.

I guess we should attack it with a hammer a la @amal 's flex test? Realistically, your meat is gonna absorb that majority of the force. i can say with certainty that it is more durable than glass from what we have seen to date.

Depending on how you define contort, back of the wrist where a watch is tends to be ideal for something larger. I support the outside of the forearm above the elbow would work as well.

I like this idea, however for long term planning, I was thinking of using that space for the VivoKey Apex Module. I haven’t had much use for the flexUG4 since the range has been very small.

This is comforting to know so I don’t feel like it’ll snap from the day to day abuse, however, I am unsure about how it’ll react with weight force as opposed to blunt force. With the flex, I have had no issues at all but the read distance of the dUG4T is much more desirable.

I really like the thinking there, knowing it’s the size of a quarter. I only worry more about the blunt force because as a scooter rider, I’m not likely to fall on the back of my hands but anywhere closer to the elbow joint worries me. Are you suggesting past the elbow joint and up the arm maybe? Other places?

Where have most users, if you know, have the dUG4T installed? I’ve not been able to find much on the forums so looking to get as much information about this over the flex.

I have the flexEM installed at my right hand’s wrist and the read distance for this chip has made me seriously contemplate the read distance for the flexUG4. It’s sooooo good, I love that it reads through gloves and without issue.

Thank you for your time. :emoji_alien:
