I know this is a long shot. But if anyone has an unused Titan they have been on the ledge about and determined it is not for them i would be happy to take it off of your hands.
Just take a scalpel to the meet up and check out the magnet thread to find out who has TiTANs and where they are located, you can take as many out of hands as you like
Sounds like something out of Deux Ex or maybe CP2077.
IRL, Iām only getting new implants installed or ones that have only been inside of my body. While some works of fiction have underground markets for used chrome, this is a very disturbing idea.
Would I be open to using recycled bits of other grinders? Hmmā¦
I think of these implants as my own little synthetic organs, very personal. I might feel as attached to them as my own fingers, if they were detached. But how attached is that? Would I sell my fingers if I didnāt need them? Possible. Would I buy someone elseās if I could use them? Plausible. But it would certainly help if I knew a bit about them; their story. Just as I read the data sheets so my new little organs arenāt strangers to me. But not too much of their story. There comes a point where I say to my used things: the past is the past - youāre mine now; part of my life; part of me. Like all the atoms we imbibe into our flesh, and who have they been before? I already scavenge the pavement for electric scraps, but is techno-cannibalism too far? Maybe itās good to prepare for the day when technology brings the dissolution of the boundaries between individuals, whether we like it or not. (I do not.)
My initial gut response is to recoil at the thought, butā¦ I want biomagnets.
Keeping those boundaries in place is very important IMO. Although thereās already one thread that can easily accommodate the weird crazy gnostics who believe that weāre all one single thing and that existence is a prisonā¦
Oh. This āMr Meeseksā is from the cartoon? Until I looked it up I thought he was one of the āweird crazy gnosticsā on a thread somewhere around here. Some gnostics are certainly rather strange. Intriguing set of philosophies.
Yes, I prefer that individualism be retained. When non-countable digital beings begin spreading across shared distributed hardware and splitting and merging their data, I think there will still be ways to preserve the individual in some form or other.
Iāve already got a Titan and I love that thing. Recently, a good friend of mine got really interested in getting one as his first implant, so now Iām looking for one. He doesnāt care if itās new or second hand and heās certainly willing to pay more than the original price. If someone wants to offer theirs, please DM me.
Iāve got a Titan from the original Kickstarter. I almost got it installed last week on a trip to Utah but my trip got cancelled so im taking it as a sign. The box is open but the magnet is still sealed. Dm me if your interested.
