Can I use VivoKey spark2 as authentication key for apply

I have a VivoKey spark2 I’ve had for several years now and really haven’t had any use for it as nothing is really using VivoKey but I see on Apple you can opt to use a NFC authentication key for certain uses and I’ve tried seeing if I can use my implant to make life easy and that’s exactly what the implant is made for, I see the only commercial option is the Yubikey so if anyone knows if I can do that I would greatly appreciate it

Let me see if I understand you want to use Spark2 with Yubikey?

If so, as far as I know and I’m not a professional in this, it can’t be done.

  1. VivoKey Spark 2:
    • It is an NFC implant that operates with the ISO 14443A protocol and uses a Java Card-based architecture.
    • It is primarily designed for authentication, information exchange, and customizable functions with compatible applications (such as the VivoKey platform and systems that support standard NFC)

. 2. YubiKey:
• Compatible with protocols such as FIDO2, U2F, OTP, and more, but does not use the Java Card architecture.

As I said, this is as far as I know, the good thing is that if someone knows how to do it, I assure you that here they will instruct us and explain it well. :eyes:

So I don’t mean can the Spark be used with a Yubikey I mean can I used my spark in lieu of a Yubikey? The Spark is supposed to be designed for authentication and from what I know it doesn’t work with really anything other than the VivoKey app, but they in of it self doesn’t work for really anything important other then this forum, I originally bought it and Implanted it as it was supposed to be some really amazing implant in the future but the future is here and it’s really not useful for much, I’m trying to find something useful to do with it such as making it an authentication key I can use for my phone or programs. Just to make it clear I don’t want to use it “WITH” Yubikey I was just mentioning that as an example as it’s really the only mainstream NfC Auth key that I know of

I know the VivoKey Apex can be used as a security key, but I’m not certain about the Spark2

Maybe @tac0s or @amal could say?

I know VivoKey is working on their authentication API to expand the use of both chips, as well as other services like spark actions

As I understand it, being more on the DT than VK side, it will support SAML using VivoKey Cloud when the platform is ready.

You will find what you are looking for

Essentially the Spark 2 is a small injectable, low cost implant currently capable of NFC data sharing using Spark Actions and freely usable with the VivoKey Auth API.

VivoKey is developing a VivoKey Cloud service that will enable you to authenticate with the Spark 2 to a SAML based SSO service. For example, if you are using Google Workspace, you could configure one or more users in an Organizational Unit to authenticate with VivoKey Cloud, enabling you to log into Google accounts by scanning your chip. By extension this would also allow you to use “Log in with Google” on any 3rd party website using your Spark chip.

Once the Cloud SSO service is launched, VivoKey will be rolling out various federated services which can be accessed through VivoKey Cloud. Services we are looking into include Mastodon, BlueSky, PeerTube, Matrix Chat, and others.

VivoKey Cloud will also allow the use of VivoKey Apex (running the Spark app) and various 3rd party devices licensing the Spark app for their smartcard chip based products (various rings etc.).

What you might be looking for is the VivoKey Apex which is a smartcard based chip implant that supports various applications through the deployment of “applets” to the chip over NFC. Check out the Apex page for a list of currently supported applets.
