While the SLIX isn’t quite the SLIX2, we’re throwing in one of these for your NFC Type 5 fun. What most of you will scoff about is the reduced storage compared to the SLIX2 (or xSLX) which comes in at 128 bytes vs 320 bytes. For those who want more details:
You may have noticed the little gen3 guy that snuck in there. They are interesting. But not that interesting. First off, 7-byte changeable UID. That alone makes them worth offering as the UG4 is 7x the price we are going to sell these guys for solo. The second thing I like, is that you can change the UID with good ol’ APDUs. If your phone does ISODEP, you can get 'er done. What I don’t like is that I cannot give it a 4-byte UID. Or configure the SAK.
Also, we have a card printer these days. As we work through the back inventory, we’re transitioning to printing from stickers. Because you’re all going to ask: yes, we can print color. No, we haven’t tried yet. It is more than 10x as expensive to print in color so we plan to have some fun options available. And probably an NFC MR card for sale (not because we want to, it’s just been asked for )
Sure. But it would be expensive. Mostly because depending on which card you choose, it probably results in several wasted cards (some are easier to print on than others). And we get 10% of the prints out of the more expensive film. Definitely run some ideas by us if you like. The biggest consideration I’ve seen is the chip itself. Some processes result in big bulges where the chip is so it’s best not print over them. The more consistent the image is, the more likely something tiny blem will mess things up. It’s a labor of love.
Assuming you mean contactless, the acr 1552u is pretty great. The Identiv uTrust 3700 F has a bit better range. The 1552u is multi iso (14443a/b AND 15693) unlike the Identiv. See this WIP post.
Admitedly, this is the only one i have used but it does the thing, has usb-c and is tiny.
Keep in mind that using a contact interface does’t behave the same. For example, you cannot get the UID without authing. So it will not work with global platform gui.
