Chimpo 100% wants a swimming pool this year so the water project has begun. We found a spot just up from camp where there is a stream. We followed it up to a natural fork in the stream. We plan to dig this out . Line it with logs . Then line it with tarp and place stone papers around the edges. This will act as a place for the water to drop the majority of its sediments and a place to hold a water filter that will feed water into camp via a buried hoe’s pipe and tap.
Its a mess at the moment but its getting there.

Thats all done. Just gota finish the trenches to get water into it. We will let it run for a week or so to wash out an loose shit. Then we will line it with geotextile and tarp. And cap it with flag stones.and cover dirt with moss…
then ill add the funnel and filter to the side wall and run the pipe into cap where it will en up in a tap screwed to a tree in camp. Wen full and over flowing it should continue down the water course.

Onto the last stage. Ive made a filtered funnel and bought a out door tap. The plan is to place one end in the pool and the other down in camp where the tap will be attached to a tree. We have 100m of pipe. I have not measured the distance… wish me luck. Eeeek.

So time to install the pipe. Im assuming the funnel is less than 100m away from camp. This is a total guess… and im crossing my fingers. I won’t let the water into it until it reaches the tap and is all covered…
I managed to trench the pipe about a 3rd of the way there. I can’t wait to get a pool up there.. and cool my sweaty balls on a hot summer afternoon…

If there’s an elevation difference I think its called a ram pump? You could use that to help transfer the water. If its a downward slope you should be fine with gravity. I’d use clay bricks or pavers to line it so that the sedemnt doesn’t break down and wear away as easily. You could also install a gate like they have in rice paddies to help with stopping water flow when you don’t want it.
