Do you like the location or would you have rather gotten it somewhere else?
Scale of 1-10 pain?
I’m hovering over the place order button for the flexUG4 right now. I got a guy ready to install it. I just need some feedback on choosing a location before I commit.
I would like to add on a tiny bit here, xSeries only at the moment, so I’m using objectively worse antennas from a range perspective.
Outer forearm can work very well too (part facing towards ground when pointing a sword at the sky), but only for very specific readers. My desktop (kbr1) and ONE of the door swipes at work, I use my forearm, while the other 3 door swipes I use my R4.
I’m taking your advice for p4. Bought the implant and booked the appointment. In my right hand it just makes sense.
I get what you are saying about the hands for presenting to readers, makes sense and I agree.
Not quite sure I get what you mean forearms for readers to be presented to. Like…maybe the wireless readers I used to work with that scanned badges at checkpoints. They were basically just honeywell RMPK40 powered by a battery and a 2.4ghz bridge.
I installed the apex module in the back of my left hand and it sucked, I’d give that a 8, I install a m1448a magnet in my left forearm near the elbow and that was a breeze, I’d give that a 1 lol.
If I had that many I would probably need to start getting tattoos to remember which one was which. I’ll probably end up there, knowing how I am with diving into things.
To me, that position looks super awkward for presenting to a reader.
Unless, it is a specific reader at a certain height and you get the implant at the perfect orientation. Perhaps a little testing beforehand would be highly beneficial before speaking them crazy words
This is how I picture you, warming up before approaching the reader
And you at the reader, trying to find, just the right orientation
You after a couple of years using the same reader
And you, after you realise it was a bad idea, and decide to put an RSP / MFGC on the reader to help you out (easier, but still awkward)
As you can tell, I’m leaning over a chair here. But our work readers are [currently] set to light switch height, and most of the ones I personally care about are to the right of doors.
One of the readers I care about does have a glass wall to the right of it. I was debating on a “just behind a watch” install, but after some trying, I was getting caught on the wall… Or having to bend as you show above.
Being able to have my elbow only overshoot the reader by 3-5 inches should be enough to avoid elbowing said glass, and doing it horizontally should hopefully allow a more comfortable presentation.
I do have both p0’s open.. I guess I am just concerned about more flexing in those areas compared to a forearm install. I know most flex failures are due to bad positioning, and I would really prefer to have this / other flexies for a long time, hence my avoidance until now to get a flex at all.
Probably not a reasonable concern, and more of me over thinking things than anything.
