I’ve had severe tendonitis in my right thumb and wrist for 30 years and I’ve had my implant (xSIID LED) for 3. The implant is in the webbing and is closer to my index finger. I’ve always had bad flare ups and was ignored by my previous doctor before I moved. Finally, I went to my new doctor (sorry Nurse Practitioner because I’m poor and on Medicaid) because it got bad at work. Counting thousands of dollars a few times a day brings it on.
I went for X-rays yesterday and told the tech I had an implant. Ok. Her supervisor comes in and starts questioning me about it. Did I know it was there? Yup. Who put it there? Me. Why? For the hell of it. She wasn’t amused.
Today, I get a call from the NP and she asked if I knew I had an electronic device in my hand. Seriously, this is what I get in a rural town in NY. She thinks all my problems are from the implant. I told her to explain the past 30 years to me. It was a problem before the implant and the implant doesn’t interfere with my thumb. It’s almost 3/4” away. I already told her about how I got tendonitis and about the day I started to feel it 30 years ago. It’s still that fresh in my mind because it screwed me with playing guitar.
I have a referral to an ortho and i have a feeling it’s gonna get real interesting when it comes time for an MRI. I’ve been doing the research and have links ready.
