I signed up for the beta program three days ago, but I haven’t received any feedback yet. How long should I wait?
It’ll take a few days, don’t worry. They’ll get in touch.
I have a BeUno too and the people at DSruptive are awesome.
just wait ![]()
you will love it - the chip is amazing
Huh.. just found BeUNO PET ..
Effectively, from what I gather, they took a BeUNO chip and slapped a T5577 next to it, programmed it in FDX-B mode, and aimted it at the pet market. Aside from the fact that they are likely asking random people to scan an NFC chip of uncertain location, with a phone, in an unfamiliar pet, through fur, without any training in scanning implants at all.. aside from that fact, they are also being a bit disingenuous with their advertising and claims.
Tracking
They commit the cardinal sin of using the term “find my pet” (tracking) and “GPS” to describe how the chip works. They promote a “Find my pet” feature on the home page but have no explanation this requires someone to successfully scan the chip with their phone. They are leaning hard on the typical customer’s misunderstanding that “GPS chip implants” exist (they don’t) to sell chip implants for pets.
From the FAQ page, they straight up conflate GPS tracking with their chips. The do not clarify their chip is not a GPS tracking device, they basically double down using cleaver wording that laymen will misunderstand. They talk about the problems with GPS devices, then say the BeUNO PET chip “integrates this functionality into the chip” .. If you read this as plain English, they are saying they put GPS functionality (without any GPS problems) into their microchip implant.
On the “how it works” page, they do not clarify anything with regard to “tracking”. At the top they have 3 words “Connect. Track. Care.” .. The only other reference they make to the word “track” is elsewhere on the website (not this page) and it refers to tracking health data (not location). They do nothing here to clarify what they mean. In fact, they double down again (triple down?) by talking about pet loss and putting a “missing alert” icon there. This is willfully misleading.
Fucking bad show lads. Bad show.
Something that stood out to me, was the lack of an BioBond anti-migration cap
Unlike the xBT
In fairness, I did read something s while ago stating ~ “There is no noticeable difference in migration, with or without anti-migration caps”
But unless they read the same article, or did their own research, I’m (not) surprised they omitted the use of one.
this is a 3D render package you can buy / license… we used the same for a while way back… its fake though… not a real design.
Probably about humans… which is true… our fascia tissue is much more dense than animal scruff. They might not be putting it in the scruff, but that’s the well known location dictated to all vets and animal shelters, and likely the only place they will try to scan with a traditional scanner.
Pretty sure it was dogs, specifically Beagles if I recall correctly.
I can try and find it if you want…
Abstract
Ninety transponders (microchips), 45 made of bioglass, 30 made of acid-etched bioglass, and 15 made of bioglass and provided with a polypropylene cap, were inserted into 15 dogs in six different locations: on the left and right side of the head, and on the left and right shoulders, both cranial and caudal to the dorsum. The transponders were left in place for 16 weeks, during which their position was determined by means of an electronic reader and radiographs, and they were then retrieved and examined histologically. A clinical evaluation revealed that about half of the transponders inserted in all the shoulder locations had migrated to some extent, whereas the transponders in the head location had hardly moved. There were no differences in the extent of migration between the different types of transponders. Histological analysis showed that almost all the transponders were surrounded by a thin fibrous capsule with no sign of any gross inflammatory reaction
Nice find
