Flex Finger install?

Hey guys it’s me again

Got a FlexDF2 coming, at $75 I couldn’t resist lol.

I would like to install it in my finger and I was wondering if that’s a good idea in the long run and if anybody else has installed a flex in their finger?

This is where I wanna install it:

@amal has a flexNT there. We were actually discussing this after I saw your comment on Discord. He mentioned that you’re not gonna get it directly center because of the tendon. It’ll end up favoring a side.

Ah okay good to know, I was thinking it might drift to one side but I was thinking because of the bone rather than the tendons lol

Yeah both.. bone and tendon. It looks a little to far down the finger though. Make a fist and set it on top of your metacarpal to get a real sense of where it would / should fit.

FlexDF2 arrived, debating on whether I should install it with a scalpel or use the included needle. It’s quite a bit shorter than the FlexOne in the photo below

Self install? Whatever you feel more confident doing honestly.

Someone else installing it? I’d bet the needle will be quicker.

Self install as usual lol. I’ve done 3 scalpel installs and they weren’t so bad, just wondering if the needle would be less or more awkward cos it’s a finger, but also because of the narrower point of the needle I’m concerned I’ll have to go in further to make a sufficient pocket?

I kinda wish that I was more knowledgeable and less queasy about pain and blood.

To be blunt then, you would know better than I!

I think I’ll give the needle a whirl then.

So now it’s just a matter of deciding whether I should go in from the base knuckle or the middle knuckle.

Done, used the needle and elevator, wasn’t too bad tbh.

Do me a solid and show healing updates occasionally? I’m invested and that’s an odd install location.

Understandable, that’s, once again, quite the install.

Haha I will, so far swelling is minimal but it’s pretty tender, nowhere near as bad as the apex install tho!

It’s great to see how well it’s settling in, especially with the placement being such a tricky spot for movement. Your photos give a really clear idea of what to expect during the first few weeks.

So while the install didn’t feel so bad it got pretty damn painful a few hours after lol but it settled down the following day. It’s been about 20 hours now since install.

Healing nicely, very little swelling from the start, can faintly see the outline of the implant.

Final Update. Would have posted one earlier but another install in my hand got infected rip. The this finger flex healed very well and you can faintly see the outline and it seems pretty central but only time will tell if it shifts or migrates to the side.
