Headless mode on the proxmark3

Hi y’all. I’m new to the forum but am curious about headless mode on the proxmark3, am I able to plug an external power into the side by the button and copy keycards and use the proxmark3 as the keycard. If so how so?

Firstly, welcome to the community!

The short answer: maybe.

The longer answer: it depends on what exactly you want to do, what type of keycard you’re working with, and whether you’re willing to code your own standalone mode.

So:

  • Is the system you’re working with LF or HF?
    • Which exact type of card is it?
  • Which PM3 do you have?
  • Do you have any coding experience?
  • What is your background with RFID?

This should be enough to begin to point you in the right direction!

Coding I’m just learning and it would be lf. I have a xem chip implant so ik a little about rfid and it’s the proxmark3 easy from dangerous things

Ok, so is there a particular type of lf card that you want to clone? LF should be relatively easy to clone headless in comparison to something like Mifare class with hardnested keys…

E.g. if you want EM4100 tags, there’s already a standalone mode for that: Standalone mode · RfidResearchGroup/proxmark3 Wiki · GitHub - LF_EM4100RSWB and LF_EM4100RWC
