Help Needed: Accidentally Deleted FIDO2 Applet on VivoKey Apex Flex – How Can I Reinstall It?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some help with my VivoKey Apex Flex, which is currently implanted subdermally in my hand.

While setting up and configuring my implant through the Fidesmo application, I accidentally selected “FIDO2 Destroy.”

It appears that this action removed the FIDO2 applet and its associated authentication keys from my implant.

Unfortunately, after completing this process, VivoKey FIDO2 no longer appears as an available service for installation in Fidesmo.

My goal is to use my Apex Flex as a FIDO2 security key for passwordless authentication and passkeys.

I have a few questions:

  1. Is it possible to reinstall the FIDO2 applet after accidentally deleting it?

  2. Can new FIDO2 authentication keys be generated on the same implant?

  3. Is there an alternative installation method if FIDO2 is no longer listed in Fidesmo?

  4. Has anyone experienced this issue and successfully restored FIDO2 functionality?

Since the implant is already installed in my hand, I’m hoping there is a way to restore its functionality without replacing the device.

Any guidance or instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yeah. I just removed it from a test card and it still shows up as an option when i hit “connect a service.” not seeing it as an option?

You’ll have to attempt to manually remove it again as the destroy process probably didn’t complete properly and now it’s in a half-rmeoved state.

Enable manual delivery.

Tap you Apex and perform a manual service delivery of cc68e88c app with destroy as the service.

After success, you should be able to deploy again.

new random keys are created by default on deployment

no, the deployment must be fixed

there is no restore option for keys but you can definitely fix the service deployment to get a fresh FIDO applet deployed.

Hi @tac0s and @amal

Thank you both so much for your quick responses and support!

I followed the steps you provided, and thanks to the detailed instructions and screenshots, I was able to successfully complete the process. The FIDO2 – FIDO Security service is now available again on my VivoKey Apex Flex!

I really appreciate you taking the time to help me resolve this issue.

By the way, I’ve already had my VivoKey Apex Flex implanted in my hand, and I’m currently working on a YouTube video to share my personal experience, including the implantation procedure, setup, configuration, and everything I’ve learned along the way.

I’m excited to share my experience with others who may be interested in this technology!

Thanks again for your help and for being such a supportive community!
