HID ProxCard II Reader/Writer

Hello, I’m a newbie at trying to read and write RFID cards. We have a HID Corporation ProxCard II with a number on one side that I am trying to replicate that is used for our neighborhood gate. The gate can either be open via this card by a reader or a physical push button before the gate where there is no security guard or anything, anyone without a gate card could come through the gate. There are already other people around duplicating these now and me having worked in IT for 36 years before retired am curious on learning how to do this on my own. I would like to read the existing card using a card reader that I purchased off Amazon - RFID Reader, Ajfwm 125KHz/13.56Mhz Dual Frequency RFID Scanner Read 1326 Family Proximity Cards & EM4100 ID IC NFC Card Access Control System (Amazon.com: RFID Reader,Ajfwm 125KHz/13.56Mhz Dual Frequency RFID Scanner Read 1326 Family Proximity Cards & EM4100 ID IC NFC Card Access Control System Home Again : Electronics) which says that it is compatible with 125MHz HID ProxCard II Cards. I’m trying to use the following Windows program with the card reader WCopy NFC Reader and Write Tool version 2025.03.11.03 but the card reader LED just remains red and does not seem to be reading the card at all! Maybe I need another type of reader, or maybe some other software but I would really appreciate hearing from the EXPERTS in RFID Cards replication on why maybe this is not working and maybe tell me what I need and what the steps or instructions are to be able to do this. My ultimate goal is to read the card and then replicate the code to a blank sticker tag that can be applied to the mirror of my vehicle so the gate can sense the tag without having to pull my physical ProxCard II out and rolling down my window to wave the card at the gate’s reader or physically press the button at the gate - like I said, others have paid someone to have these done but at the price of a reader and blank tags I would just love to learn more about this myself. This would only be for myself and my wife’s vehicle only, I am not trying to sell this service, I’m just the type of guys that wants to learn new technology that I haven’t worked on before. I am more interested in learning about this technology and how this is done and what physical devices and software is needed to accomplish this on my own. Thanks in advance for all your help, much appreciated.

Return it. Get a proxmark3. Ours come with a T5577 card or fob you can copy the hid fob to.

For this, your better option would be intergrating UHF, similar to what is used at Toll gates.

The range of LF or HF is significantly lower than UHF.
That said, with the right reader, you can extend your range but it would likely not be as reliable as UHF.

If you wanted to go down this path, you would want a large reader, similar to this

Alternatively LPR would be a good option.

Then, you should look at giving employees the option to enroll an xEM, XMagic, NEXTV2 etc

Thanks Pilmgridsmaster, I think you misunderstand my question or maybe I did not explain my situation clear enough. All I am trying to do is replicate my existing Proxy card II by reading it, copying the code and then writing this code onto a new card or tag. I do not want to change any of the equipment already in place. I just want to be able to create a new card or tag by reading my existing card and replicating it to a blank. Hope this helps.

Thanks, where is your online store if you supply these and which version of the Proxmark3 Would work best for me? Version 2, the new version 4 or the EASY option? I have worked in IT for 35+ years and I am comfortable with using CLI interface but there is a lot more to these and the initial steps that are required to even set this up. You have to basically emulate Linux on your Windows PC. If there was a much simpler way to do this, I would prefer that but you are the expert, Let me know what you think.

I got you, you just mentioned wanting to be able to add a sticker to your car for access.

This will allow you to make all the copies you want.

We can help you set it up and provide step by step to make those copies

Thanks, the sticker is actually a one way sticky TAG in itself that works just like the ProxCard II. I apprexiate the store link and the recommendation….. thanks again
