How to avoid accidentally locking NExT v2?

I dont know much about RFID/NFC, most of my interactions with it are making very basic NFC cards that lead to web pages using the NFC tools app, or emulating Nintendo Amiibos with my flipper. I know that you can lock a RFID/NFC to be read-only, and want to avoid accidentally doing that while playing around with my NExT v2 or xSLX, but I’m not sure what the best way to do that is besides having a test card that I write everything to and test there before writing to my implants. I was told to avoid copying Amiibos to the implants becuase they can lock the implant to read only, and now I’m a bit scared that I’ll lock them on accident!

It’s really hard to do because we lock the stuff that let’s it be bricked easily… Which is why NFC Tools always says our implants are locked even though the user memory is wide open.

If you’re going to do the amiibo thing, you’ll need to set the password and PACK–which means you’ll be changing the password from what we use. This is the most likely way for you to lose functionality of an implant: changing the password but not recording/documenting the change.

This is generally the best way to avoid issues; testing with a test card first.

Any time I do something new with a T5577 implant, I always reprogram a test card first.

Of course knowing a little bit about the logic behind the ICs of your implants can help, but if you can flash an otherwise identical test card, then undo that, you know that what you are doing probably will not harm your implant.
