How were you introduced into the world of Biohacking?

Many years ago I saw the magnet and thought it was awesome, but I worked on the floor in a machine shop at the time so shavings would be a bad problem. Fast forward about 11 years… I was flipping through Instagram and saw a chip and thought “that’s AWESOME!” Started looking at what all could be done with them and figured one day when I have a lot of money I can do that. Then found the DT site and saw the price is SUPER reasonable!!! A few weeks later after I got the nerve to really get serious about it and clicked on the “contact us.” That is when I was directed to this forum, in turn led to me ordering my first implant today!

There’s only 1 piercing shop in my city that does them (Tribal Expression) so being that I already have an excessive amount of piercings the owner of the shop told me about them. The shop stocks both the xEM and the xNT chips. My first implant was the xEM chip and after a short healing time and little thought I returned to implant the xNT chip, both chips are in my left hand. These 2 chip implants started the whole process.
I then ordered directly from Dangerous Things an access controller that I wired to my motorcycle bypassing the start button. Shortly after ordering the access controller the NExT chip came available so I ordered the NExT, xDF2 and Spark 2 chips directly from Dangerous Things and had them shipped directly to my piercer who for a small fee implanted them. The xDF2 is in my left hand and the NExT and Spark 2 are in my right. With these 5 chips i now have the ability to use either hand to do the same tasks.
I have only been implanted for about 2 years now too. I keep checking on the “new” chips available but am yet to make a decision on whether or not to get another at this time

I live in Sweden, and I think we have the most implantees per capita here. I’m not sure where I first heard about implantation, but I believe it could have been something on Facebook or a news story since there’s been lots of news articles about implantation.

Even so, I’ve been following the development of implants and seen more and more companies opening up for implantees here in Sweden. Our public railroad company SJ has launched an app where we can register our chip and use it as a ticket. Our primary airline SAS has made a ‘proof of concept’ that scanning an implant to board works, even though they haven’t provided official support yet. A number of country-wide and local gym chains has also added support for adding implants.

It was a month ago that I finally decided to get my first implant. It was after I’ve learnt of the somewhat new NExT chip with dual frequencies and being on a new job which added the hazzle of opening a number of doors with tags on a daily basis that I decided to go ahead and get it.

And boy, was I happy I did? Yes indeed, I haven’t told anyone at work yet, I’m just waiting for them to accidentally see me opening a door without a tag and see how they start doubting everything they know about life until now… :joy:

For me, like most, it was the siren call of a magnetic extra sense. I first read about it online somewhere. Never was in a position to do anything because of life’s little quirks. By the time I was, the reality of magnet failure had become widely known, and I decided not to.

Not real sure how I got involved in RFID chipping. Mostly once I imagined the magic tool box concept, I was set to do it, come what may.

I don’t even remember, probably hearing about magnetic implants or something - although I suppose the Borg would be my first introduction outside of it being technically not real.

At least unlike Seven and Picard we don’t have to endure “the most painful experience of my life” or losing our humanity to do so.

Yeah  Sweden is amazing.
I must say it is also possible for peiple from other countrys to get the SJ Prio Account. Its so cool to use connect your implant to the Prio Account.
September it was an amazing holiday in Sweden. Next holiday is booked for november - hopefully I can travel.

Live it, that Sweden is so modern.

I think I heard the first time 2015 or 2016 about implants. I don’t have a holiday to travel to the CEBIT, and I wasn’t sure if everyone was able to get a chipimplant - or it is only for companys… (I didn’t search in the internet…- i know a big mistake)

In 2017 I read again about it, I start searching, and got about 1,5 week later my first implant. It was LIKE :heart_eyes::heart_eyes:

YT recommended me some Thought Emporium videos and I instantly fell in love with his channel. After some time I saw the magnet implant guide and got hooked. Weeks of research followed and I got my first implant.

Magnets my friend, magnets.

Still want. Just don’t want metal poisoning.

I learned about them from one of Deviant Ollam’s talks at some kind of con (I think it was a defcon). I was bingeing some of his pen testing talks and he mentioned his implants.

That was 2 years ago.

Since then I have done my research, looked into the idea, wanted one, got shot down by my parents untill I was 18, finally ordered a next, and here we are.

Years ago, I saw was using StumbleUpon and ended up on Lepht’s blog. I was immediately super interested in the idea of augmenting human sensations by adding magnets into fingers, and followed it for a bit. Got interested in DT immediately when I found out about it, but held off on getting an implant for awhile. Ended up at the Biohacking conference in Austin last year and bit the bullet and got an xEM, xBT, and Spark 1 installed. Been engaged with the scene from afar for so long, but finally decided to start trying to contribute in small ways as I can

I’d be more concerned about not ending up with the same pinky finger as Lepht

Yeah - while I was infatuated with their methodology and DIY spirit for the longest time, once I found out about how far the grinder scene has come, it really put “I busted my lip from biting on a towel so hard and then passed out while installing a magnet with a vegetable peeler” into perspective.

What she did (does?) was reckless. There ain’t too ways around it.

Although if I’m honest, now that I live in Finland, I’m seriously considering getting in contact with some underground surgeons in Russia willing to undertake certain procedures. The docs I approached in Western Europe in the past all refused because what I’m asking isn’t strictly necessary, and they reckon feeding me painkillers year round is a better alternative. Or, as one told me quite openly, he understood the rationale behind my request and he sympathized, but he didn’t want to lose his license.

For me, it was a mixture of two things - loving bodymods for about 20 years now, and philosophical interest in transhumanism and evolution in general.
Currently, things start to accelerate a little - about two months ago, I found a glowing silicone implant, and decided I wanted that. Some weeks later, I found a great person to implant it, startet to talk to him about all that funny strange stuff he could do, and he was very open-minded and had great ideas, so I kinda delved deeper into all that… found this forum here (knew about biohack.me before, but… I’m not at all into that DIY-approach^^) on exactly the day the FlexNext was announced and ordered it. I’m curious where all this is going to go for me… :woman_shrugging:

I attended 27C3: 27th Chaos Communcation Congress, December 2010 in Berlin, Germany. There I was introduced into the world of biohacking by a talk by Lepht Anonym: “Cybernetics for the masses”.
