I believe one of my injector needles was empty

So basically i bought the bundle with the spark, next and green LED.

I read here in the forums that it’s normal that i can’t read them yet since I’ve put them in literally two hours ago and the swelling is very obvious, even though it was put in by a doctor friend.

While the LED one can activate and the others can’t yet, the main issue is the following:

I couldn’t feel my neXT after installation. So, i went and did an X-ray. While the spark and the LED are very visible, the neXT isn’t. Is it possible that the needle arrived empty?

(The next is supposed to be on my left, on the hand which had the one between the ring and pinkie, in the same location as the right hand)

have you checked the applicator to see that it’s not still in there? or in the gauze used when the injection was finished

Yep, should’ve mentioned that. Injector was empty, and nothing came out the hole.

that’s very odd, DT is PST so it’s early morning hours for them but they should get back about this soon

That’s very odd. When the end of the needle was withdrawn from your hand, what did it look like exactly? Was anything sticking out of the end or was it just an empty metal needle tip?

There was the end of the plunger sticking out of the metal tip.

Is it possible that the implant fell out (of you) or got pushed out during the bandaging process? What kind of bandage was applied?

We’ve had an instance before where the plunger wasn’t long enough to eject the implant, and it was left in the needle after full depression. If you saw the end of the plunger then it was fully deployed.

We’ve also had plenty of people claim the needle was empty, only to eventually find their implant after swelling has reduced. You’ve got an x-ray though that says otherwise.

As others have pointed out, we’ve also had situations where the implant effectively skated out of the incision after needle withdrawal. At least one artist found the implant wrapped in gauze in the trash can from this happening.

If the needle truly was empty, this would be a first for us. We will send you a replacement. Reply to your order confirmation email to get things started.

Nope. Fortunately, since i did it at the doctor, those little strips that work as “stitches” were applied and fully closed the hole, so it either entered my bloodstream and I’m about to have an aneurysm, or I don’t know lmao

Is it possible that the swelling doesn’t allow it to be seen in the xray? I highly doubt it but still

No swelling won’t get in the way of an x-ray. I guess anything is possible, and you may have received an empty needle :person_shrugging:

You wouldn’t have an aneurysm. In theory it would pass through your heart and into your lungs and get lodged there where the blood vessels start to branch out into smaller and smaller capillaries. Since you have access to an x-ray machine, take a chest x-ray and see if it’s there. We’ve had one report of this happening but every attempt to follow up and get clear medical detail from an actual medical professional had failed.

I don’t mean to freak you out, but if there was a lot of swelling and blood, but no implant, then it’s pretty clear some sort of larger blood vessel was nicked or opened by the needle. I’ve done thousands of installs and some are completely bloodless and some are a bloodbath. The latter group is always because there was some hidden blood vessel that I scraped or nicked with the needle while doing the installation. I’ve never had an implant disappear on me though. In any case, if you and your doctor are curious, try that chest x-ray.

Generally speaking, if somehow the implant ended up in your lungs then there’s nothing really you can do about it. Removal would be risky and there would be kind of no point.

Oh i was mostly joking I’m not freaked out, as a medical professional myself the place that my friend placed the needle at has no major blood vessels, only capillaries. There’s no way it just sneaked off into it. Theres no major swelling and it didn’t bleed. Don’t worry y’all, i will make double sure there’s no implant anywhere at all and then I’ll get back to the process if there really isn’t anything.
