Ordered, it’ll be here tomorrow, can post an update likely Friday.
Works- next step is buying an xnt to check performance? Assuming I can get the working, the xSIID would work as well?
The xSIID has less range than the xNT because it has to power the LED. But reading an xNT would definitely be a good sign.
A flexNT would be a better option when it comes to read range.
What about getting a flexNT for the lock and an xSIID for fun and rickrolls?
I second this, if you’re up for a flex install.
xNT would be a good test for somewhat cheap, yes.
You could also buy the flex and test it before installing through its packaging ![]()
Called the guy from the map (thanks for having the map) and he’s done flexs before and is quite knowledgeable about both the products and process.
It’s going to likely be a next month thing, but looks like
for now.
New question… A couple of bundles I didn’t see before are now there and that spured a couple more questions.
How does xled-hf differ from the xsiid? Does the xled just light up like the dector cards, not read at all?
Do you think an apex flex would work for this lock, and if so how does the read range compare to the suggested flexNT?
Exactly right, no chip, just blinky
Your next question might be “why?” … basically one reason is you can install an xled 5mm away from another chip that might not have blinky and you kind of get the same effect where the chip reads and the xled blinks.
In addition to the “why”:
1-You can use them to help you identify different readers you come across. Most readers are hf or lf, but some can be both.
2-If you come across many readers often, some people might benefit from not needing to carry an xFD separately, which is helpful for figuring out exactly how you should place your other implant(s) with chips.
Little added info to my second question- I can enroll a Tesla key card… don’t know if that helps with the case or not.
Difficult to know the answer to this unless it has been tested.
The ApexFlex is an awesome implant, but personally, I have struggled to find a lock it will work with.
Not to say it wont, but just to set realistic expectations.
It shouldn’t be the decision maker, get the ApexFlex, you wont be disapointed, If it doesn’t work on that specific reader, grab something that probably will, like the FlexNT or FlexM1.
A test card pack will help narrow your options down.
