I’m new here. Based in Australia. Last month I bought a VivoKey Spark 2 from KSEC Solutions (authorised retailer) but things haven’t really gone to plan. Everything went well with the installation. Here is an image which is a great representation of placement:
I was a bit disappointed at first that the Spark wouldn’t read, so I reached out to KSEC on 14 July 2024. Really fantastic customer support by the way, would highly recommend KSEC. They even reached out to me after a period of silence. And that’s how I got here. By the amazing KSEC referral.
I still can’t get the Spark to read since installation at the start of July. Again, no issues with the installation at all. Swelling was present and to be expected. But the site has healed really well. I’m not too sure if I am feeling the spark to the touch when I press near the installation area, but is does feel different to the opposite hand where there is no spark.
I remember initially having some mild panic about not being able to feel it properly in the hand (although I opted to have the installation be slightly deeper in the dermis due to my own biological makeup of paper thin skin and a background in jiu jitsu which any surface level implant would be at risk of catching) but now that the swelling has subsided completely, it is there.
I’m not sure of the position and I don’t want to press too hard considering it’s only a month old since installation. Can someone help me out here? Because I really am at a loss at what to do in this situation. I have tried the following NFC read/write methods:
Welcome,
First scanning implants with phone can be tricky because they are small, and sometimes cases do interfere. Also you need to know where the nfc antenna of your phone is and touch the implant there. Grab this application and try again.
I personally do not have spark, but doing the things above will/should prove the implant is safe and sound. Also if the implant do not have NDEF on it, your phone might not know what to do with it.
p.s. reading the product specs
The VivoKey Spark 2 works with the Spark Actions smartphone app to create and different behaviors or actions that launch when someone scans your Spark with their NFC enabled smartphone. You can create actions that open a website, initiate a phone call, prepare a pre-filled SMS message, or create a new email with pre-populated recipients, subject line, and message body. More URI based actions will be supported in future releases.
I would suggest to grab this app when you’re sure the location of your phone antenna and then use it to scan the implant.
With the iPhone option, be sure to remove any case and kind of “stab” the phone at the implant, like this;
If it’s not easy to feel the Spark 2 then it’s likely embedded a bit deeper than the fascia tissue and into or under the fat layer.
After 4 weeks it should be fairly locked in place at this point, and pushing should not be a problem.
Last but not least, we include accessories like the XFD in our kits, but KSEC does not and these accessories are extra. If you did not get an XFD (watch the videos on the product page), then you might consider getting an HF XFD so you can easily test your phone… it might be a matter of education since reading small cylindrical implants with phones is nothing like reading keyfobs or full size cards.
Finally, if the Spark 2 is just a tad bit too deep, you may need to use a repeater sticker from the RSP on your phone(s) to get a reliable solid read.
