I’ve looked through the location threads, but hoping to find some help here too. Right now I have an old beta xG3 in the 0 spot of my right hand, RFID in the 0 spot of my left, and an xSIID halfway up my right forearm (on top).
I now have an xG3v2 and xG3v1 but am at a loss of where to place them. The “where are your magnets?” thread has a few spots that look good but I’m worried would not work for me; I’m pretty thin, so anywhere on top of the hand feels far too bony.
Is my left forearm the way to go, to match my right? Has anyone had experience with inside the forearm? I guess I can do someone not on my hands/arms, but that seems pretty useless.
I guess I’d first want to know what your goals are. Magician / Magic tricks? Need a place to stick screws? Just freakin the normies? Where to put it has everything to do with what it’s used for.
Forearm is pretty useful, especially since you have a magnet in your right hand and could use that to pass things to a magnet on your left arm. Inside forearm is doable, you just have to find a spot far enough above the wrist to have space, and feel around for a good gap between veins/muscles/tendons. I have an xG3v2 toward the thumb side of my inner forearm, and it sits comfortably.
With the resin v1, knife edge could be a good spot, since that lets you lift things easily and visibly.
Then you want it visible for freaking and accessible for screws.
I’d take a good look at the hollow spot between metacarpals on the back of your hand, just behind (but close to) the knuckles. There’s kind of a divet in the meat there. It’s where I tucked my Titan (s). One got installed a little far back (my fault) and is more visible, but the one that’s down in the groove is damn near invisible unless I don’t want it to be.
Hang on a sec, I’ve got pics somewhere.
Found it. Thoughts on my back of hand Titan install - #5 by ODaily Although mine is a little farther back from what I’d recommend for you, closer to the knuckles, plenty of room. But, seriously, ask somebody who’s better with a knife than me.
Take a second look, This is kinda hard to explain, but it’s the space between the tendons. There’s a natural, unoccupied valley there. If it doesn’t work for you, it doesn’t work, but I can’t think of a more “empty” spot to put it.
That said, this is as personal of a choice as it could possibly be, do what’s good for you.
